Last night’s game was a tough watch re Wood, I think the excitement of a high-paced close match against good opponents, and European night game feel, was the last straw/has made me run out patience with him. Really hope I am wrong, but just can’t see him being an asset for where are now or where we want to be at the end of this season. I should add that my first favourite Newcastle player was Alan Gowling, so it’s not that I can’t appreciate a less skilful, more workman like, centre forward.

I waited for an age outside the Quilted Camel, placard at the ready, on Saturday and not a soul turned up. There were a few furrowed brows around, but possibly just hangover related. Beginning to doubt the whole new panic-stations-protest movement ?‍♂️

I was wondering whether Bruno was getting some undue close attention (not that he was passively putting up with it mind) and Joelinton entered the fray with a bit of retribution in mind.

Really enjoyed that, despite crying into my Sagres over losing a ‘trophy’. They are by anyone’s standards a good team. Add Joelinton, tbf Shelvey if poss/though Bruno would have been less frantic with his mate alongside, and Willock to the first half line-up (at the expense of Anderson and Longstaff and I’d fancy us to win that. Bondswell played well looked promising too. A bit more threatening and pacy than Targett, though playing against tired legs early on. Wood didn’t do anything to reassure me that were not desperate for a striker. Miggy helped reassure that we’re perhaps not as desperate as we all thought for a goal scoring right winger.
