Really excited to see this game. Gutted not to see it live (one of our previous two home games still stands as one of my best experiences at SJP).

Certainly making a good fist of it so far. Best a newly promoted team has done was third; us and Forest both a long time ago. We had a fairly established side/way of playing and Forest had just been relegated and bounced back in style. Beyond that, it is pretty grim reading. Most recent solid first season was Leeds five years ago who finished 9th.

Was a great point. Going to need to find a way to break teams down and score though (not meaning to state the obvious) but seem to recall you didn’t score many last year, do you think you have added goals to the team with the signings made?

Good result today and great start, to be fair, for the Mak-nee-marras. No shots on target so probs a grim watch. That said Palace only managed 6 shots on target (1.5XG) so doesn’t sound like they had their backs against the wall time the whole game.

We’d defo win!!

Watched a lad (crombie and lace-up dealers type) getting it tattooed on his head in Camperdown Street, Gateshead, circa 1983. He is probably chuffed about the revival!

This thing of beauty has just arrived. Well made good heavy/quality feel. I ordered a size up (2XL) as it had been described as a tight fit, but it isn’t and is slightly roomy around the midriff, but will be keeping as Sod’s Law XL might be too narrow in shoulders or short on arms.

Would be Wharton for me, on my wish list for a long while. That said, so was Kalvin Phillips (…admittedly before Pep ruined him) so what do I know.

Well Howe did seem genuinely gutted to let him go. But given who we had/have in that position it was probably the right/least worst call.

Can you imagine striving to get to a club and play Champions League, and your first match being vs Barcelona at SJP under the lights? You’d need cojones the size of peaches to not be overawed.

Patron saint of Newcastle is St Nicholas. For those of a certain age, referring to it as St Nick’s would be apt. Madhouse it has been/no doubt will be.

There was one week when I thought I wonder what I would have got if I just went 1-0 or 2-1 for every match and both would have produced a third more points than my painstakingly chosen predictions 😂 (no wonder the bookies are rich!)

Feel like I missed out on Ben Arfa. Stopped going to games after what they did to Keegan (2008 ish) and didn’t really fully check back in until McClaren (timing eh?). Only to chuck the dummy after they failed to support Benitez (who I really admired). Couldn’t help looking out for results but living elsewhere it was relatively easy to block out all things Ashley-NUFC—which as others have said, often more vehemently, didn’t feel like ‘my’ club anymore.
