Got to get a goal early here and they’ll crumble
-
It’s actually unbelievable how bad those two tackles haven’t been carded. I can’t get over the Ayew one, it’s a leg breaker and it’s just been brushed over
-
That’s a red card tackle - I’m stunned

‘On the rare occasion Murphy does start, Newcastle’s underlying metrics improve across every department. Newcastle are unbeaten (five wins and one draw), score more goals (2.67 to 1.48), concede fewer (0.67 to 0.72), win more frequently (win ratio of 83.3 per cent, compared to 44.0 per cent) and collect a higher number of points per game (2.67 to 1.76)’ Those are crazy stats although such a small sample size

I’d be very happy if we signed one or two of these Sporting players. Some real talent in the team and they also play our style of football too
-
They’re in a proper relegation battle right now with some really tricky games for them coming up as well. That small gap they have could be almost gone by the end of the weekend
-
Brighton could really get 4th place this year. They’ve been great all season and are just a brilliantly coached side - so much better this year than Spurs and it’s crazy how they’re not above them already

Pope giving me continuously small heart attacks every time he has the ball

Been impressed with Murphy today

For me I think the Europa Conference League is not worth messing up your schedule and rhythm in the season. It doesn’t really offer you elite competition and I assume the sponsorship / tv money is poor for the amount of strain it puts on the team. I’m a fan of the Europa League because it has a lot of top sides entering each year and also offers the avenue of Champions League qualification as a winner
-
Completely forget they have missed Diaz for the whole season - that’s some depth upfront
-
Not a fan of the Europa Conference and would actually prefer that we don’t ever enter it. The real progress to me this year is the fact that we won’t be losing the usual 15+ league games in a season. Our mentality totally changing to one that doesn’t just accept defeat is a great shift from 18 months ago
-
Fairly certain that I read it as being top 4 and the winner - you just can’t have more than 5 in the competition
-
True. I think only an elite level team would tempt him away from us. Besides, it will be easier to justify staying here when there are 5 champions league places available from 24/25. We look like falling short this year, but when there’s one extra place it becomes somewhat easier to keep your best players
-
I’ve always thought that Nelson at Arsenal has so much talent, but just hugely unlucky with injuries - he’d be a good shout on a free
-
If Dummett can hang around the place just because of a good attitude then surely you’d keep Burn
-
Just hoping it’s not the customary humping we usually see
-
Brighton have got a great chance to get to a final now
-
Don’t we need a Man Utd v Man City final to improve our European chances?
-
We’re due a win against these lot

My frustration with Miggy is that he always seems to do the daft thing when he’s got time to make a decision (wrong pass, poor accuracy, another touch or a cut back). I can’t get over that genuine chance we had on Sunday of scoring on the break in the opening minutes of the game where there were three players running ahead of him and he messed up the easy pass
-
It’s hard one because I’ve always rated the guy and think he’s a top player. For some reason he just seems to have lost something, I don’t know what it is, but something doesn’t seem right with him this year. Maybe his continual injuries are finally catching up to him and just stopping him from getting back to that level we expect from. He’s 31 so certainly not the end of the road, but it feels like it’s part of the process of him starting to decline now
-
He goes down with a head injury so often that my wife (who rarely watches us play) asked yesterday why he’s always semi conscious on the floor every time she sees him
-
I thought we played well and gave everything out there today. Extremely disappointed by the goals because they came from absolutely nothing and against the run of the play. Man Utd clearly have more big game experience and managed the game far better and were tactically spot on. They were compact, sat back and assessed the flow of the game, using their pace and quick passing to pounce when the opportunity presented itself. We had a lot of good positions and opened them up numerous times with the final pass letting us down constantly. We also slowed things down too often when in a threatening position (ASM being guilty of this although I thought he played well). We’ll get better with experience and a higher quality of player
