As if Lascelles, after nearly 2 years of not playing, is going to be an adequate stand-in. Relying on him and Botman whilst in four competitions is complete dereliction of duty. Since the 30th March 2024 Lascelles has played 19 minutes of PL football. He’s barely a player at this point, more a cheerleader.

I contrast watching them vs Wet Spam on Tuesday. Leeds showing the heart and desire, plus decent enough technical ability and press, to compete effectively. West Ham showed neither.

I think this is why Gabby Logan had to leave MOTD half way through the show. Sad stuff, he had a genuinely fascinating career, never frightened to tread untrodden paths.

Reflecting on it now, he’s fast becoming a lynchpin for Eddie and a huge problem solver. He may have done well going on loan to Ipswich but I doubt he’d have had the footballing education, pressure and exposure that is creating a real diamond for us.

Like Thiaw and Ramsey, I’d be checking his studs/boots as the three of them looked like they were playing on ice.
