    The old days

Dropping Clarkie for Batty disrupted our attacking prowess imho
  3. Exactly and we will get into them when they come up here
  4. Rugby Union is still overwhelmingly a middle class sport - the majority of England capped players even since the game turned professional went to fee paying / selective schools. This is changing but there’s a code in rugby that’s probably learnt from an early age. I don’t think you can directly compare football and rugby union players (or supporters for that matter)
  5. It’s give snd take - she watches a lot of soaps and I either go upstairs and watch something or go out for a couple of pints and watch football there. Might help our kids are all 10+ so pretty much entertain themselves during week and save days out / activities for weekends.

    Match Atmosphere

It wasn’t a designated standing area. This was post the Taylor report requirements when our singing area was the milburn / Leazes corner before the ground extension. The most vocal fans at the time stood / sat there and although many had purchased a £500 bond on top of their season tickets to (they thought) guarantee their seat for 10 years the club wanted to extend the corporate area and took fans who opposed being moved to court. Although the club won the legal argument that the fans only had the right to “a seat” not “their seat” the judge acknowledged that it was a loophole and the fans had been shafted. From memory the fans (ie those not directly affected) were more United than I guess would be the case now. But as I said things come full circle.

The bond / save our seats debacle proved that point in law too (although I still agree that was a pisstake by the club). It shows how things come full circle as years ago the standing area got scrapped to extend the corporate offering.

    Players in public

Had a pint with Nobby in the Blackies on gossy high street last Sunday. He drinks with a few of the old boys I know who get in there every Sunday.

Agree 100%. But the club just fell over themselves with the unprecedented demand. Remember the 10th of October 10 wins out of 10 v Tranmere in the KK promotion season - was circa 10,000 locked outside it was the last game that wasn’t all ticket. We paid on the door but we’re in the ground just after midday (I was 11 years old and went with my mates in the gallowgate corner - couldn’t imagine parents letting their kids do that nowadays!).

Look at who is on the board of our supporters trust and the cabal who run True Faith now. Hard to believe we’re a working class city in the NE sometimes. The schools they went to didn’t even play football till the late 1990s…

Who is it ? Are they part of the Hurst / Robson old tie cabal?

Marc Corby and as has been said Norman were good contributors- knowledgeable and down to earth. I don’t watch any TF stuff since their departure. I also think Emil is canny but the lad he does the “Toon pints” pod with is so full of himself he makes it unwatchable.
  14. not rumours afaik mate the lass was from Crammy and gets (a lot of) child support from him

Aye I work with a few they’re genuinely self deprecating funny lads in my experience and whimsy they’d love to beat us don’t take it or themselves too seriously. I actually don’t know many mackems and whilst I hate the football team would prob have better crack on holiday with a lad from Ryhope than say Reading.
  16. the first question is a bit too late for the Trust to be asking its membership on now tbf as Brian Blessed was consulted by the club before they decided on the criteria. I don’t disagree with the process the club went with but that’s not the point. Hurst et al are meant to represent their membership directly imho not be appointed to make decisions based on their superior merit. FWIW @Greg I feel for you , you do a good job from what I see but some if the board lack your integrity and desire to represent the fan base for the greater good rather than their own self interest / social media profile.

Add Maine Road to that list. Old grounds in less than salubrious areas with lots of rat runs made it easy to ambush visiting fans

I think with Arsenal a lot if their tickets when the Emirates opened were bought by sporting tours groups etc who then struggled to sell on the tickets for games as perceived as unglamorous. The wearysiders cause is unlikely to be the same.
  19. Keith Barrett has returned to attending matches which is great to see - lots of people will have find memories of toon travel trips in the 90s and early 2000s before the incident at Hull away that led him to get banned and then walk away.

Fuck off mate . Tbf even if you think it was a pen VAR would have given us a free kick on the edge of their box in the build up .. mebbes

The annoying thing about “who’s tgsf team is we only sing the one verse” we don’t sing the Joe Harvey went on holiday bit or bringing on the “Spaniards by the score”. I used ti like my old man and Frank clerk knas my father. the spontaneity seems to have gone. I remember being at Zulte Waregem away and our whole end singing Gloria Gaynors “I will survive” after it had started to be played at the end of the half time break and when the dj stopped playing we all carried on acapella! Drink had been taken…
  24. Aye a lot of the posh school wallers were in there. I had the misfortune to be sent a video of a TF live event. One kid on there (who presumably had a ticket)) had never been to Newcastle..
