  1. "While he congratulated Southampton on beating Hull City in the Championship Play-Off Final, Richard Masters noted that in the event of the south coast club being found guilty of spying and handed a sporting sanction, the Premier League proposed that only the top two clubs in last season's Championship, Coventry City and Ipswich Town, be promoted, thus granting 18th-placed Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur a reprieve from relegation. When challenged on this and with the Swindon Town 'precedent' of 1990 specifically put to him, Masters noted that football was only invented in 1992 and that nothing like this had ever happened before."
  2. That's good to hear. One of my mates' nephews is in the 14s or 15s but never tells me anything beyond what ends up on Twitter etc, save for the odd photo and video
  3. I accept this is probably a very boring perspective, but hopefully we're just battering teams on account of a tour/event booked ages ago and because of how the players have developed this year. If they're that good that this becomes the norm they need moving up a year or two so they might actually learn something, obviously assume that's something the club will already be/is looking at
  4. Poolie not read the bit about "Allianz Arena-style facade" before he lumped it into AI then
  5. Was there ever a conversation with the Swedish FA about Jones having a role assisting Potter either full or part-time? I'm sure I remember talk of that when Potter first got that job. Suspect the reasoning in the tweet is indeed nonsense but will no doubt gain traction as the reason if he does move on, don't imagine Jones is short of admirers within the game so it's reasonable to assume he may be asked if he fancies a change
  6. They are lovely, the fuck are we doing man
  7. Yeah, supposedly around €400k a week isn't he?
  8. I saw something the other day where Vlahovic said something to the effect of he's "waiting for Barcelona or Bayern Munich" and my first thought was that similarly I'm waiting for Scarlett Johansson and Ana de Armas to come and jointly seduce me. If a Saudi club isn't interested (and even then will they now pay what he's expecting?) I've got no idea where he'll end up
  9. We haven't stuck to the laws "with ease perfectly all the time" though, that's why we're negotiating a settlement with UEFA, are going to pay a fine, and are presumably going to agree to go along with whatever the terms of the settlement and the rules are. We've breached the rules, I assume we've therefore also come close to breaching the rules before, but unfortunately we seem to have pulled our stadium magic trick after UEFA closed the selling your own assets to yourself loophole, but that's another conversation.
  10. No, but we are actively trying to qualify for Europe either finishing in a relevant league position or by winning trophies, aren't we? At least I assume that's a core objective of the playing side of the football club, I'd certainly hope so, given the time and financial investment I and many others make into it every year. So I'm not sure flipping the bird at UEFA's rules or ignoring a settlement we make now and taking an approach of "we don't need to worry about it now" is going to be a viable strategy. Nor is it one I'd imagine the club plans to take.
  11. That doesn't mean they won't sanction us in a later season if we don't comply. Villa and Chelsea for example both have conditions they have to meet over three and four years respectively.
  12. I think part of our settlement with UEFA for whatever breach we did is that it has to be one out - one in, so we're probably already snookered unless we're still negotiating with UEFA
  13. Villa 1-1 Liverpool Man United 3-1 Forest Brentford 3-1 Palace Everton 2-0 Sunderland Leeds 2-2 Brighton Wolves 2-3 Fulham Newcastle 2-2 West Ham Arsenal 4-0 Burnley Bournemouth 1-1 Man City Chelsea 1-1 Spurs

    Wonder where he landed
  15. I always presume working for adidas on our kits must be like being a producer for MTV where you're able to come up with the daftest or most low-rent show concept possible knowing that there will be plenty of people who would do anything to become "celebrities" who will happily apply to be on it and go along with whatever you want them to do. In this case, short of giving us something in red and white stripes, adidas knows full well they'll sell an absolute ton of them. That said, you'd think the club would (maybe they have) instruct adidas to do something a bit more "universal" as it were given our deal is split between the upfront money and revenue share. I guess if this doesn't sell so many at least the club will see the numbers affecting the books and tell them never again.
  16. Bus seats, no. The boardroom seats at Stamford Bridge, yes. Probably even licks Boehly's chair
  17. Weez Keyz did a bit on this the other day: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/may/10/southampton-spygate-middlesbrough-championship-playoffs
  18. The way Southampton carried on last night at times it was like collective delayed PTSD from Murphy waving that lad off in the semi-final that time kicked in and they finally decided they were going to bite back
  19. That would have been the same summer that Bruno's clause was active aswell so we'd most likely have been working on the assumption of sell Joelinton and Bruno and probably one in (with Anderson and Miley getting more minutes). I've long thought we'd have tried to sell Bruno to PSG for less than his clause and bought Ugarte off of them (or some deal that essentially means the clause has been met but without the full fees), and not just because Ugarte rocked up at the Red Scum of Manchester shortly after Ashworth arrived there, although it was known he was talking to them during his gardening leave etc...
  20. At least that lad who was probably a mackem trying to get bites won't be back in the mackem thread banging on about how the beasts is our real derby and how much he's looking forward to playing them
  21. I had someone in front of me in W2 who was saying Woltemade was shit aswell. Couple of weeks ago at Arsenal the same bloke was beside me during the second half and thought he was class and Howe was a cunt for not playing him in his proper position. Drugs eh?! Football in a library just makes me cringe every time. There was someone near me trying to get EIEIEIO going at 0-0 ffs. And as for joining in with the Anderson chants, get in the bin. Clap him on and off the pitch, and once if he comes over to take a corner by all means. Otherwise, he's playing for the team in the red shirt, not us. Honestly, was worse than applauding when Qarabag scored in February. Wouldn't surprise me if half the ground is getting ready to sing DJ Otzi at Callum Wilson as soon as he comes on the pitch on Sunday.
  22. Mandatory pre-promotion acclimatisation to the shit refereeing in the PL, although heaven knows what it's usually like in the Championship anyway
  23. Howard Webb is a joke. There's going to be a "consultation" at the end of the season about excessive grappling. Wants to be a final written warning to all the refs for gross incompetence and bringing the game into disrepute by not enforcing the rules. Idiot.
