This guy seems to have no authority, how could we have moved heaven and earth (i.e. continue to ask him) to sign him? I'm not sure how he's even been in management this long without a shade of command about him, the opposite of the leader of men. Basically, the absolute worst appointment for us at the time.

Does anyone think he's gone if we get tanked on Sunday ? Usually there are rumours flying about when a manager is totally failing at his job and every comment he says is a negative one, but he just seems to plod on.

All the people at the club that are ment to have authority ( captain, manager, MD) are just little quite mice with no balls to stand up to people with the number one task of saying or doing nowt to upset Ashley

if it goes as badly as we all expect it to at the weekend and he doesn't walk - ahead of another bloodbath coming at spurs - then he's clearly just riding the gravy train for his payoff like the rest of them

he can talk about patience and time all he wants, at some point it's just bullshit, he's been here since june and we're literally worse than we've ever been

Judge me after 10 an unspecified number of games humpings.

Think the difference with SMC is if it turns anywhere like it turned on Pardew he'll walk then, I'd like to think so anyway, wouldn't want to think him enough of a cunt to put up with that for money

The problem is the quality of the players in certain crucial positions. Changing the manager won't help.

The other issue is that when McClaren came in, all of the staff went and he had to start getting to know the players and their abilities from scratch. Inevitably there were errors eg he under-rated Ayoze at first and over-rated Colo and Sissoko. He didn't realise the extent of the problem, so why bring in another manager who might well suffer similar difficulties. At least McClaren shouldn't be under any delusion about what needs to be done in January.

Seems like he has absolutely no clue how to turn this around. We're in the shite and he has not said a thing to inspire confidence.

- Get tanked 5-1 = 'we're dong good...'

- About to face a side that's scored 11 goals in 3 games - 'we're all sad and shit...'

Compare this to the resilience shown by that twat Pearson last season. Always bigging up his players, telling the media to fuck off. Schteeve has brother the balls or gumption to turn this around. At least on the relegation season there was a small hope that we'd turn it round. This season we know what's coming and don't give a shite. What's worse, nobody at the club is doing a thing to arrest the slide.

Aye, we should maybe think about recording games with cameras or something for future reference.

Sorry but a lot of this is horseshit. The club are already dampening expectations through the press of new signings so what exactly is to be gained by keeping SMC on with what will likely be more or less the same squad?

Klopp has shown how much a good manager can achieve with a group of players who are playing like shit all over the pitch.

If you asked me right now whether I'd take 3-4 speculative signings from abroad (which is probably the best we'll get) or one top quality, proven manager then I'd be going for the manager.

Absolutely. No chance whatsoever of Ashley/Charnley sanctioning it or anyone decent wanting to work in this system we've got, but I'd absolutely take an inspired managerial upgrade over any squad tinkering we are likely to do. Either way, I can't see them radically changing their approach as that would be an admission of their own failings. They've made their bed and now we will all have to lie in it. :(

It is annoying when they speak to ex NUFC players as some kind of expert when they clearly are out of touch with what is going on and anyway, the club has completely changed since his days.

However McClaren does not seem to have the "friends" in the media that Pardew has so there is no holding back in ridiculing him where his interviews and his demeanour are concerned.

Bowyer just doesn't want us to appoint Paul Ince.

Anyway on a more serious note, WTF is this?

He underrated Ayoze at first and over-rated Colo and Sissoko... He's still overrating Colo and Sissoko hence them starting every game and Ayoze being took off at half time when we're 3-1 down to be replaced with a f***ing defender in the last game! So he clearly hasn't suddenly realised any error! We started to make a bit of traction with the 4-4-2, got sussed as you do when you have no plan B, so he reverted to the already-failed 4-2-3-1 Pardew bollocks. McClaren is out of his depth and we need to make the change before it's too late. I was dead against his appointment from the start, but sympathised with him during the season as MA is truly to blame for all this, but he didn't help himself in the Palace game and looked completely tactically inferior to Alan f***ing Pardew so for me that's the final nail in the coffin for him.

McLaren needs to grow a pair of bollocks and make some drastic changes. Sticking with the same group of players and the same system is making him look like an idiot.  We have a reserve team full of players champing at the bit for some first team action and I doubt they'd do any worse than our current first teamers. Come to think of it, it isn't physically possible for them to do any worse.

Drop everyone shit, bring some eager young players into the first team fold to replace them and at least show the world that you're trying to make this work.

So far he's tried 2-3 versions of the same thing and come up with nothing. He should be experimenting with every available option to try and discover a formula that works - he has absolutely nothing to lose.

Weak as piss, safety-first loser.

Part of me has thougth the same thing this time - we are now on manager 3 with most of the same group of players, and nothing is changing, which begins to point towards the players.

However, I then remember the two previous 'managers' and then look at the turn around Klopp has/is doing at Liverpool, and you think that the right person in charge CAN make a difference to, an arguably, poor group of players.

But there lies the bigger issue.... under the current owner, no manager of any worth is going to get the chance, because they'd A: cost money (probably), B: want more control than he wants them to have and C: have to take orders from Penfold Charnley.

Basically, we're F***ed!

It's pointless looking at what Klopp has done, he's one of the best managers on the planet. We are not going to get someone anywhere near his quality in our current state. You put a good manager in a shit situation, he will still do shit. Countless examples.

Best thing we can do is get relegated, get shot of Ashley, appoint a Klopp disciple and go on from there.

don't think anyone is expecting us to get someone of klopp's character but if we went and appointed someone within the motivational and tactical ranges of mcclaren (at zero apparently) and klopp then we'd be able to steer ourselves clear of relegation

mcclaren is the wrong man at the wrong club at the wrong time sadly, it's never going to work, might as well call it now - if he gets half new team he might manage to keep us up, maybe, but we'll be back here again sooner rather than later

He's a good poster, not sure how he'd adjust to the Ashley model though.
