Comfortable at the back - Faye's an ox, Taylor's organised, Enrique's so fast and looking comfortable - Rozehnal a liability. Smith/Butt, both naff. johnnypd Posted January 6, 2008 Share Posted January 6, 2008 not been the best of first halves. we've had most the ball but stoke had set themselves up solidly and are working very hard and we dont have the invention or pace to break them down or stretch the defence apart to create space. their midfielders are doubling up on on duff and n'zogbia, and after a positive opening 15 from both theyve both faded badly. no one from centre midfield is breaking forward or has the ability to play positively it on the deck. butt keeps trying those little chips into the corners and he's shit at them, please stop. as a result of this viduka is dropping deep and receiving it miles from where he is most effective, on the edge of the box. owen is also dropping far too deep but he just doesnt have the speed or movement to play on the shoulder or move to the flanks. both strikers movement has been terrible. owen had two good chances tho from quick thinking/quick feet of the supplier (viduka iirc) but failed to capitalise, since then stoke dropped back a bit more and viduka hasn't had the same space to turn and create. they seem to be trying to hit us on the break but clearly dont have the pace to successfully pull that off. their best opportunities wil probably come from set pieces or one of ours making a mistake (hello smith). Yeah it looks good, Enrique has been good defensively and is a threat going forward, Charlie is just Charlie, very dangerous, sometimes over does it but always causing problems.
