Tooj
Signing is imminent according to Marca. I'd expect this one to be wrapped up by the end of the week. LOL WHAT? He's taking the piss at how pathetic this thread is.
Shearergol
What difference does it make if we build him up on here? He's hardly going to read it and let it go to his head. Nice to see some positive comments about our players for a change.

Mistle17
I think our main downfall in recent years has been our failure to buy players like Collocini. Instead of spending money on players we didnt need (i.e Damien Duff) we could of built a strong defence with players like these. Could you imagine a central defensive pairing of Woodgate and Collocini!

Guest hikickry
This was: 1) His first match for his new team 2) His first match in a new country 3) His first match of the season - no pre season games at all On the whole a very very good debut completely agree, just leave it at that then

Dan Gleebals
Given full of praise for Fabricio Coloccini Aug 22 2008 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle SHAY GIVEN is banking on Newcastle United’s new-look defensive rearguard to help see off Bolton. United go into the clash boosted by a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United. And Given is looking forward to playing in front of £10m Argentinian defender Fabricio Coloccini who lines up on home soil with Steven Taylor in the heart of the defence. Given told the Chronicle: “Coloccini’s English isn’t great at the moment – it will take him a while to settle in. “But I felt going to Man United he didn’t look out of place at all. He’s a great signing for us. “Steven Taylor is still a young player and he’s still learning, he is also going to improve hopefully.” Another Premier League home debutant will be Coloccini’s South American colleague Jonas Gutierrez who is in line to face Wanderers on the back of a great performance at Old Trafford. He says: “Jonas looked very good against Valencia and he picked up where he left off at Old Trafford.” Yet Given was delighted with the all-round team display against the champions. He says: “We’ve had a great start and it could have been more than a point. “We passed the ball well and created plenty of chances. “We take into a lot of positives and a lot of credits from the Man United game. “Bolton is one to look forward to and hopefully then going on a run.” He plays in goal as well.. great buy. Ronaldo
had a tough time in the air but that was to be expected on the deck he was nowt short of brilliant
Guest Howaythetoon
on the deck he was nowt short of brilliant Steady on He was good but brilliant would be pinging 50 yard balls all over the pace, dribbling it upfield etc. etc. Then again compared to Taylor... Guest Heneage
He's really not a ballwinner in the air, i'd let Taylor do that.

Guest
There was one moment where the ball looked like it was heading for a corner near the corner flag, and most defenders would have either given up, or tried sliding to stop it going for a corner and conceding the throw-in instead....but he slid for it and kept it in, scooping it round and standing up in pretty much in one movement, and then played it off the Bolton player for a throw-in. Was pure quality.

Guest
May have done. I just remember the sliding and keeping it in, in pretty much one movement and him having control of the ball and then a throw-in.
