If he hadn't been such a tit from day one of his career he'd probably be capped by England now after having 4 extra years in the Southampton youth set up.

Swindon Town have banned local paper the Swindon Advertiser after their chief sports writer tweeted the news that controversial striker Nile Ranger was back in the starting XI.

Sam Morshead revealed the news less than two hours before kick-off of Saturday's 2-1 win over Peterborough after a fan tweeted a picture of his shirt in the dressing room - confirming what Morshead claims he knew earlier in the week.

Ranger also posted the news on Instagram, captioning a snap of him in his training kit with the message: 'I'm back.'

Ex-Newcastle United footballer Nile Ranger has been arrested for breaching his bail conditions in Newcastle city centre.

The troubled striker was arrested by Northumbria Police outside Tup Tup Palace Nightclub on St Nicholas Street in Newcastle at 2.30am this morning.

In August he was ordered by a Newcastle magistrate to stay out of Northumbria Police’s force area after he appeared in court in relation to a charge of raping a woman at a hotel in the city.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “A 22-year-old male was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning on suspicion of breach of bail conditions and is currently in police custody helping police with enquiries.”

The Londoner left the North East by mutual consent in March 2013 and now plays for Swindon Town.

He is due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court later this year after being charged with rape, in connection with an alleged incident at a hotel in Newcastle’s Jesmond area in January 2013.

He denies the charges.

Swindon is hundreds of mils away from Newcastle. Why would he travel such a long distance with the express intent of breaking his bail conditions in a city where he is easily noticed? Why not go to London, which is much closer and has many more women willing to entertain the advances of an irrelevant footballer?

Sounded like he was being really discreet about being in NE, too.

Should have seen him man.

This look on his face:

Wearing a full grey tracksuit with his hand down the front of them.

Beautifully phrased and an excellent question. He's thick as mince is probably the correct answer.
