the best?? if he does it the premiership maybe, how you can say someone is better than 2 bezza and bernard who both we're integral part's in the teams that had us in the top 3/4 in the league

He's been solid since he's joined (done it in the prem, our best defender by a mile last season) despite what the papers have said, both Bezza and Ollie had flaws in their game (ollie more so(and so does Jose)) but were fine players, i just think Enrique has shown just as much quality already as a defender as both had over their entire Toon career, and he's not finished, just started.

Beye last season was average like, whereas Jose just got stronger and stronger. If all four played as well as him we'd still be in the prem, simple as that. But i guess there's loads of IF's and one too many Nicky Butts.

He is outstanding AND I also think that that IF we do get promoted then his form will carry on into the Prem, he is so confident right now he seems settled and very happy to be here.

Makes a massive difference to  a player to be happy at a club, keeping him is just so MASSIVE for us.

People forget that although he was faced with turmoil and controversy during his first season in England, he still gave Ronaldo one of his hardest games when we played them at OT ; it wasn't until Ronaldo switched wings to get away from Jose that the goals started flying in.

 

Now that he has experience of the country(and the type of football played here) I expect him to be one of the club's real successes if he is still here when promotion is achieved.

I remember earlier on in the season when I got Enrique on the back of my shirt, the guy behind the counter asked me why I was getting Enrique on my shirt because he's "rubbish" and whole load of other crap. I should remind him what he said, he'd feel like a right twat.

Enrique was once thought to be too lightweight to handle the pace and power of football in this country as both Sam Allardyce – the manager who signed him – and Joe Kinnear questioned his conditioning.

 

However, the 23-year-old – a £6.3m signing from Villareal in 2007 – has been brilliant this season and is one of the front-runners to become Newcastle’s player of the season, having proved more than capable of handling himself in the Championship.

 

As the only specialist left-back in Chris Hughton’s squad, marathon man Enrique does not want to be given a rest as he looks to break the 50-game barrier.

 

He said: “I want to play 50 games this season.

 

“That is one of my ambitions, although I never thought I would be saying that when I came to England. When I first arrived I needed to be stronger and fitter – it was hard for me at first, but now I feel good.

 

“It took me a bit of time to get used to the style of football, but I am very happy in England and very happy playing for Newcastle. I have been the only

 

left-back in the squad all season and thankfully I have avoided injuries. I hope that continues, because I think to play 50 games in a season is a big achievement for any player. I have never played that many games before, but I think I have only missed one or two cup games this season. I still feel good, there are no problems for me.”

 

Enrique has already made 25 appearances for the Magpies this season and, with 23 games left to play, he does not sign up to the view the FA Cup is a distraction for the team following the comprehensive 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday night.
