Roflham Lolspurs - "It's Just Who We Are Mate"

Recommended Posts

I've never wanted Man U to win my entire life I'm not starting now. Celebrity chasing glory hunting media darlings,  tossers

I have a couple of cockney reds who I got to know going to away matches in the late 60's/early 70's they use the `I saw Bobby Charlton, George Best excuse`

Not sure if you find out straight away who is home and who is away, I think it took 2 days for the fixtures to come out following the draw last time, yet again some of the opening games are on a thursday too.

I don’t want either to win, but if I have to pick one then it’s Spurs. Not that I see them winning it.

The problem for Spurs isn’t their PSR allowance, it’s actual money in the bank that they don’t have when it comes to big spending. Even then they can be reluctant at times.

I despise Ange. The “nice guy” has shown his true colours.

Think it comes down to who needs CL more, they both want it but who would it hurt the most of one was to lose out. I think the answer is Spurs.

Man U are a giant of a club and will still have huge amounts of money pouring into the club. We know there's a pretty good chance they waste a large chunk of it due the incompetence of those running the club but getting the CL means they will just have even more to spend. Spurs are a lot smaller and not getting that CL cash injection will have a much bigger negative impact on their finances. I genuinely think we've passed them regards the stuff on the pitch and a sustained length of time outside of the CL allows us a better chance to catch and pass them off the pitch too.

For those reasons unfortunately I have to admit I'd prefer to see Man U win it. Ideally they'll kick the absolute fuck out of each other and they both somehow manage to disgrace themselves in the process. Also don't like Postecoglu either, much prefer to see that fat mess squirming in his postmatch interview. I'll hate watch it (at best)

I think Spurs winning is the obvious choice.

Pros

  • They might keep Postecoglou
  • Man United are the bigger long-term threat and more likely to splurge - we don't want them in the CL and with more money to spend
  • Man United losing to Spurs of all teams would be really funny and potentially knock their confidence
  • Man United might have to sell some players they don't want to
  • Spurs probably aren't ready for CL next season anyway
  • Man United are more unlikeable
  • During Man United's 'failure' era they've still won 5 trophies, I want them to actually fail

Cons

  • Spurs are still unlikeable and it would strengthen their hand
  • Man United can concentrate on their league form
  • Postecoglou gets to say he continued his second season trophy winning thing

I understand the sentiment but I don't see it that way.

Spurs breaking their trophy drought would be worse for Newcastle. I think Man Utd are in the shit no matter what, they've got so many holes in their squad. CL and a trophy is a bit of a difference-maker for Spurs, whereas Man Utd already have trophies. Them winning this won't change anything, so it's the lesser of two evils IMO.

This was the same conclusion I came to. The first bullet is what puts it over the edge. They are going nowhere with Ange so make this their Ten Hag moment.

I think the only thing going for spurs here is that villa need a win whereas they don't, and as Villa start to overcommit later in the second half they might get lucky on a counter (it could be the same situation we are in against Everton if some results this weekend don't go out way).

I hope Man Utd knack these in the UEFA Cup final.  At least Man Utd started a proper XI

Yeah I'm leaning this way after the last few times I've seen them. They'd be the most undeserving UEFA cup winners in my lifetime and the manner in which they've thrown PL games actually impacts the integrity of the league.
