Tachikoma
Given our tactic of choice of knocking long, he would have probably done well for us today. he'd have done what he done for them, won lots but didn't have a clue where it was going. pretty pointless really. But a vast improvement, nonetheless. I'd rather we just start Shola, who is perfectly adequate for that role. Nolan would have improved us more than Carroll, if only because he'd fill in that massive gap between the midfield and attack, and force us to play a 4-3-3 to accommodate him. Jack Flash
We crossed the ball in from wide areas far more than West Ham did so he'd have certainly been more effective for us than them. His back was to our goal for most of the game and there's only so much you can do in that position.
Ketsbaia
Carroll was so poor today, although it was nice to see him not attempt a dive.
Dan Gleebals
If Pardew does go after him again, it confirms we are in the 8 years of long ball bollocks. Sadly, he has no place in free flowing, pass and move footy on the deck.

Evertons mix of longballs, and quickpaced wing/fullback combinations aren't too bad however
Guest Phil K
Whatever would actually work would suit me. Style can come later. The Leeds of the 60s and 70s did it that way.
Gallowgate Toon
Everton have a legitimate outball in Fellaini though, he can actually win a header and/or hold the ball up well. Ba and Cisse are absolutely useless at it and while Shola is somewhat effective, we have far better options in the squad.

Evertons mix of longballs, and quickpaced wing/fullback combinations aren't too bad however Everton seem to have achieved the impossible in playing a fairly attractive, long ball game. Although so much of what they do comes from their fullbacks providing such natural width, something we lack totally.

Sadly, he has no place in free flowing, pass and move footy on the deck. And neither do we. We should do we have the players for it but instead of playing to our strengths we are currently playing a way which clearly doesn't suit the team. 95% of the league play better football than us and are we telling us that 95% of the league have better players? no chance. Hell West Ham play better football than us.

They're playing more like Manchester United and the end-of-2011/12 Wigan these days.
Guest BooBoo
All the Everton talk; Fellaini would likely be a massive success in our current set up. Sadly, he's now way out of reach. Dirty bastard but a real handful and deceptively skilful.
Dave
Now? Everton paid more for him than we will ever pay for a player under Ashley.
Guest BooBoo
Yeah fair enough. Thought he was overpriced at the time (£15million?) but they'll make a handsome profit on him. Whatever though, he's a player who would thrive under our current direct game rather than our rather physically feeble front two.

Whatever though, he's a player who would thrive under our current direct game rather than our rather physically feeble front two. I've seen nothing of him for coming close to 2 years to back that up. Even yesterday, the headers he did win were aimless and rarely found a team mate. He's not scoring goals...just don't see it anymore.
Pilko
Birtles got one thing right - he looked knackared after 45 minutes and was fairly useless and out of sync.

Mole_Toonfan
Fellaini would be great tbh but alas it's something only possible on Fifa or FM. I don't actually have a problem with long ball, what i have a problem with is playing a style which quite clearly doesn't work. I love watching Everton play this season tbh the passing through midfield and stretching the pitch with Baines/Pienaar and Mirallas/Coleman and mixing up with the long ball to Fellaini is great to watch IMO. Gallowgate Toon
Decent striker, nothing more. Really didn't want him in the summer but with the way we've been playing so far, we'd be doing a bit better if he was here.
