Flip
Definitely worth having on the bench. Fact is however he shouldn't be playing based purely on set pieces. Not good enough in the general play, but has shown that maybe we can bring him on late in games to make more of a threat from set pieces when nothing else is working. ponsaelius
Better than Simpson in open play... Raylor is absolutely shocking in possession. Simpson is bad, but nowhere near as poor as Taylor.

TRon
Better than Simpson in open play... Raylor is absolutely shocking in possession. Simpson is bad, but nowhere near as poor as Taylor. Agreed. Raylor was one of the main reasons we played such shit football in the first half. When he gets closed down he just wellies it up the pitch in a blind panic. Nice free kicks but an abomination of a footballer.
captainhaircut
Better than Simpson in open play... Raylor is absolutely shocking in possession. Simpson is bad, but nowhere near as poor as Taylor. Completley disagree on that one mate. Simpson is literally scared of the ball. Actively avoids it and treats it like a hot potato when he gets it. Taylor is an excellent crosser of the ball and passes the ball averagely.

Taylor is a terrible footballer in terms of ability on the ball, first touch, dribbling, composure etc. He's an excellent striker of a football from a deadball and can do it from open play too if given the time, but everything else he's rubbish at. Simpson is not great, but he's more competent than Taylor at said attributes. (his crossing is fucking shit mind, getting fed up with him chipping it in like a fanny)

Pretty tough call, both horrendous.

quayside
Have I missed something? Wasn't Ryan Taylor being called the worst player on earth when he was playing RB? Probably had some sort of abuse like that - it's a fairly regular thing, not many of our squad have been spared over the years.

Yorkie
Taylor isn't a better defender than Simpson for goodness sake. Two games in a row, he's made an example of the one decent attribute he has - taking free-kicks. Simpson, on the other hand, has had a couple of bad performances. It's ridiculous the way the pendulum swings over certain players at times; you'd be laughed off the forum if you suggested Taylor ahead of Simpson a month ago - and rightly so. There's longevity in having Simpson at the back, even though he will never be a world-beater. Taylor's a squad player, never will be anything more. This place takes the saying "you're only as good as your last game" far too literally like. Simpson is a decent RB, probably good enough for us at the moment, whereas Ryan Taylor is a great freekick taker who is otherwise appalling.

Taylor has come up trumps last two games, but he's piss poor in open play. Second choice RB behind Simpson is still fair enough. Would love a quality RB purchase at some point in the next year though.
