Teasy
The difference with other signings on deadline day announced afterwards surely is that we got them from foreign clubs. If we were actually loaning anyone decent from prem clubs, their original clubs would be the ones giving away the story. Not us. Doesnt look like theres anything atall. Faye and Taylor were from Premiership clubs. Taylor wasnt signed on the final day of the january transfer window. Yes he was, the signing was announced on the 2nd of Febuary. It was all over the place long before that. Regardless it was confirmed before the window closed so its irrelevant to the initial point. As far as I remember the actual announcement came after the the 5pm deadline. There was a lot of unofficial info about it before that but we've also heard lots of names mentioned today unofficially. Having said that I'm definitely not certain we'll here about any late deals today, hopefully.
lovejoy
we've come out of this window ok imo, from what i was expecting. i thught we'd lose a few more than we have
Adam
Joans and Saylor are still here, sorted.
bowlingcrofty
Can't complain too much tbh, big earners booted, Lovenkrands and Simpson in - loans can still be made if necessary, don't panic Mr Mainwairing. Stuns me the way people go on sometimes.

David Icke - Son of God
I can't believe people have seriously lost the plot since it turned 5. What the fuck were you expecting? 5 more players to be unveiled? Today has been ok, got a decent striker in which was necessary. Some cover at centre back should have been acquired and cover at left back along with a winger or two would have been smashing but all things considered today has gone better than expected. Some people need to have a word, like.

Guest KevinKeegan
I think we have a decent squad: Goalies: Harper (Krul) RBs: Simpson (R.Taylor, Geremi) CBs: S. Taylor - Coloccini (Kadar-Tozer-Simpson) LBs: Enrique (Kadar, R.Taylor) Wingers: Gutierres, R.Taylor, Lovekrands, LuaLua (LM: Geremi ) CMs: Smith, Butt, Barton, Nolan, Guthrie, Geremi Strikers: Ameobi, Carroll, Lovekrands, Ranger
Guest neesy111
tbf, ppl we're expecting a lot worse, we've kept our most important players and one's for the future loans should be no problem, as i've seen 10's of time's ppl using this 'emergency loan', just to get players in (i.e. shola to stoke in 2008)

Yorkie
Happy with Lovenkrands but it really isn't enough. We've got 16 'senior' players.
J7
Could have really done with another centre back and someone to play on the right. Geremi isn't up to it.
Newcastle Fan
Remember we can still sign players on free, anyone got a list of players who are currently unattached?
The Prophet
Noe Pamarot or Lauren anyone?
Yorkie
Noe Pamarot or Lauren anyone? Aye that'd be class. There's still so many sat there on the dole queue. I'd have him and Michael Ball in a flash.
Teasy
Happy with Lovenkrands but it really isn't enough. We've got 16 'senior' players. 17 since Ranger has instantly become a senior player
Yorkie
1. Steve Harper 2. Fabricio Coloccini 3. Jose Enrique 4. Kevin Nolan 7. Joey Barton 8. Danny Guthrie 11. Peter Lovenkrands 12. Danny Simpson 16. Ryan Taylor 17. Alan Smith 18. Jonas Gutierrez 20. Geremi 22. Nicky Butt 23. Shola Ameobi 24. Andy Carroll 27. Steven Taylor The rest are just youngsters with Krul and Ranger having played the most minutes between them. I wasn't expecting any permanent signings but i'd hoped for a couple of loans. I hope we take advantage of this short-term loan deadline, and keep looking at some of the frees. But i guess if we were gonna look at free agents, we'd have signed some by now anyway. Harumph. Frazzle
For all this talk about how few 'senior player' we have, the squad isn't that bad. How many teams in the Championship have a better 4th choice striker than Ranger? Or a better 3rd choice centre back than Simpson? Or better reserve wingers than Guthrie and LuaLua? The squad would be rubbish in the PL, but in the Championship? Not bad.
Guest sicko2ndbest
State of play Harper/Krul Simpson/Geremi Colo/Taylor/Kadar/Simpson Enrique/simpson/raylor Raylor/Guthrie Barton/Smith/Nolan/Butt/Guthrie Jonas/Lua Lua/Loven Ameobi/Loven/Carroll/Ranger Centre half is by far the weakest area should Taylor get injured! turbonegro
we've come out of this window ok imo, from what i was expecting. i thught we'd lose a few more than we have this. It`s more important that we didn`t loose players. And the Løvenkrands signing means alot.
bodson
We have a competent side for the championship. I think we are ok in midfield and attack. The priority when going for loans now should definately be centreback.
Cronky
We've needed a quick player who can play in the area between striker and midfield, so Lovenkrands is a very good addition. It's a bit disappointing that we haven't signed another centre back, but anyone who is good enough to sign for a Premiership club is going to do so. The likes of Man U are only going to release young players if they're going to get first team experience (eg Simpson). There's no point in them loaning players out who are going to act as 'cover'. I think those two factors have made it difficult for us. The glass-half-full element is the players we've managed to keep eg Smith, Jonas, Barton. Dave
I wonder what bullshit they've fed Hughton.

Mr Logic
The glass-half-full element is the players we've managed to keep eg Smith, Jonas, Barton. But what wages do those three command, and some others besides? I'd hazard a guess we have the highest wagebill in the Championship. Just as well we also have the best supporters eh! We better get promoted if Ashley doesn't sell us. Actually, we better get promoted anyway.
