leffe186
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12040/7413307/Half-term-report Found this quite funny, for some reason. Found it quite funny that they give Liverpool a B and us only B+. They spent shitloads; we made money on transfers. If we win our game in hand (so sick of saying this) we are joint second on points, eleven clear of Liverpool. They are a PR disaster area.

Interpolic
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/pardew-fights-to-keep-his-famous-five-on-the-tyne-6285483.html Decent article, couldn't help disagreeing with their valuations like: £85m of Toon talent Cheick Tioté Defensive midfielder. The Ivorian shows the strength and desire to dominate games. Estimated market value: £25m Tim Krul A keeper with a presence. Has made some key saves this season and is aiming to make himself Netherlands No 1. EMV: £10m Fabricio Coloccini A favourite with fans. Has shown true spirit to come through the trauma of relegation so well but his contract is running down. EMV: £10m Demba Ba Has 15 goals in his last 16 games and his all-round game makes him an obvious target. EMV: £25m Yohan Cabaye Central midfielder who can do it all: score, create and work. EMV: £15m
Ikon
Krul's worth on paper should be 20 imo.
Dave
I'd say they are about right tbh. Maybe more for Krul, but goalkeepers don't tend for go for as much as outfield players. Which is strange really considering it's a specialised position. Ba's value there is probably too high considering the ongoing fuss over his knee(s). thomas
Was just thinking about Kruls valuation after being reminded of the crap about a 7m buyout floating around christmas time. 4 or 5 years ago it was Juventus's chief scout saying he'd be the next Buffon. The talent has been evident for a very long time and I'm sure even before this season he was on some radars. If (when ) he goes someday I hope it's at least for a Buffon amount. Which is strange really considering it's a specialised position. Ba's value there is probably too high considering the ongoing fuss over his knee(s). They're not that far off like but I'd say higher for Krul as you say (given the lack of quality goalkeepers knocking about), and actually a fair bit lower for Coloccini given his age and the length of time on his contract. If his situation goes the same way as Enrique's and he leaves next summer then can see him leaving for a similar amount as Enrique did, tops. Suppose we'd maybe command a touch more in January. Wallace
With the way the club works, I would expect Krul to get a new long term contract in the near future if only to maximise any future transfer fee. I think his current contract runs until 2014

Dave
No need to worry lads: Newcastle United are now in a position where they don’t have to sell any of their players. So if we do...
Fenham Mag
I would base my valuation of Krul on the £18 Million paid for De Gea. He is a better GK.

binnsy
I would base my valuation of Krul on the £18 Million paid for De Gea. He is a better GK. exactly, De Gea price as got to be the benchmark for any potential price we put on Krul's head, he's a better keeper and a full international (don't think de gea is but could be wrong)

FWIW, I'm still pretty confident that we won't sell anyone this month. But is that statement reassuring enough? Probably not tbh.
