Yorkie
The fact that the players seem happy to sign long contract extensions without any assurances over the manager's future would suggest that they don't give a shit whether he stays or goes. Or a deal for Hughton is imminent.
Frazzle
The fact that the players seem happy to sign long contract extensions without any assurances over the manager's future would suggest that they don't give a s*** whether he stays or goes. a) who said they haven't been given assurances over his future? b) even if they haven't, how the hell do you make the leap that they couldn't give a toss about Hughton? You think they are all going to hold off contract talks until he signs his deal? Maybe Taylor is doing this? Oh wait, no, he's just a money grabbing twat

Mr Logic
From the Mirror.. "I can tell you categorically 100 per cent that there's only one person here who selects the team and that will be the normal process. "I will select the team. You sometimes confide in your assistants, very much Colin Calderwood when he was here, but certainly with not players. It's an impossibility. If you go down that road, it's a very dangerous road." Frazzle
http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/8720305.Magpies_duo_sign_new_deals/ It is now almost two months since Calderwood left to become manager of Hibernian, but Hughton has finally made progress in his search for a new number two. There will be no appointment, however, before this weekend’s game.
Mick
Hughton is the first manager we've had that I haven't been able to make my mind up about for more than a two or three games at a time. Sometimes I think he'll become a good manager and other times I'm not too sure about him.
Mr Logic
Yep, my opinion cannot settle one way or the other either. Maybe he's a 'middle of the road' manager?
Frazzle
I think he's already proven he's a good manager. We're obviously going to lose games and have bad runs, you can't always say that means the manager is crap, take Ancelotti as an example at the moment. On the other hand you could argue the opposite with the good runs but I think Hughton has shown enough in the last year and a half, with our rapid rise, to show he's a good manager. Mick, you seem to be basing your opinion on Hughton's ability entirely down to our results (thinking he's good after and few wins and bad after a few defeats), surely there comes a point where you have to accept that a manager is doing the best with the players he has got. You could argue Hughton isn't doing this it but that would be difficult IMO.
AlanSkÃrare
I get the feeling that we'll turn up for almost every game with Hughton. In recent years, with Roeder, Souness, Kinnear, Fat Sam etc. there were games where you could see from the first minute that we were going to get battered, but this side is different, much down to the work of CH. I don't know what he is doing but this team has so much more fight in it than many of the other Newcastle sides that I've seen. It is going to become incredibly important come the end of the season. Ketsbaia
I don't think Hughton would be a success anywhere other than here tbh. Although he's clearly the right man for us at the moment. He should get a 2 year extension.

Nobody
Had it wrong today so far like. We've not been able to cope with their one man advantage in CM, needs sorting. Not his fault that his players can't pass mind.

Decky
He wont get a new contract if he doesnt sign a new striker and possibly make another couple of signings. A few injuries and suspensions and we are absolutely awful, the results just wont come.

Guest BooBoo
He's consistently awful with mid game tactical changes and substitutions. Fair enough he recognised Shola was dreadful today and subbed him at half time, but to bring on the flimsy Lovenkrnads with two more fitting replacements sitting on the bench is just crazy. I like Hughton but for every one thing he's done well this year, there's another where he's made a glaring error.
Dokko
He really does need to bring in an exceptional No2 in the next week or we might as well sack him now and bring in someone with experience, we can't afford to babysit the fuker any more.
