Ukraine and Turkey are up for debate of you like, but Russia is quite clearly ahead of Portugal, with the money that has been pumped into that league. There's not much to say at all for the 13 or so others though. They are horrifically bad. Similar to Holland in that sense. Fwiw, Portugal was ranked exactly at #10 by UEFA at the start of this season, below England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Russia, Ukraine, Netherlands and... Romania. I'd agree with all of those except for Romania. Then again they have some decent teams that have been getting results in Europe of late. edit: Holland is definitely worse than Portugal actually. Take those sides out and I would put them below the level of our Second Division. The Dutch league is much more deep. There's a reason the Portuguese top division has only 16 clubs. On loan at Toulouse right now which maybe means he would be available to buy. not a bad shout. very solid player, does the basics well, but nothing particularly special. been playing in midfield at fener. might be sold in the summer too after a sex scandal, tho personally i reckon they'll take him back once the fuss has died down. johnnypd Posted February 24, 2010 Share Posted February 24, 2010 fingers crossed if we go up then we need two strikers really. none of our current lot are premiership forwards - shola is diabolical, lovenkrands's use is limited to a squad player, carroll's not good enough and ranger is far too young (and will hopefully be on loan next season). pace/movement is an important quality and counts for a lot in the premiership, so i do hope the club will currently be looking for at least one striker with that quality.
