Another one of the loyal faithful arrested last night for racist remarks to NUFC. Presume it's the same guy mentioned on here.

Would tie in with his Twitter account disappearing yesterday afternoon.

Where've you heard about the arrest?

Don't think that Peter Copeland's deleted his account he just protected his tweets which you can do somehow.

Ah - that account was down late yesterday - said 'the account no longer existed', but it appears to be back now, and as you say with protected tweets.

If that is him I'd likely to get a caution as unlikely to be a specific complainant although one if his tweets was about Demba. Having said that, as previously posted a person of the same name has previously been in trouble with the police for cashing stolen cheques so he may be charged dependant on what he was sentenced with on that occasion.

Good to see the police do something, twitter seems to be a place where people think they can say anything.

As for safc fans saying we will sell someone to cover the signing, apart from Carroll and Milner I can't think of anyone we have sold who was young, quality and had a long contract, both were for huge fees that especially in Carroll were almost impossible to turn down, and quite sure Milner wanted to leave?

Name not mentioned in article but Chronicle have had it confirmed to them it's same person; one of their reporters contacted Northumbria Police.

POLICE are today questioning a man who is believed to have posted a vile slur on Twitter aimed at Newcastle United.

Officers received a flurry of complaints after a user on the social networking site posted the comments just as the club was poised to unveil Senegal international striker Papiss Cisse.

The racist remark focussed on the number of black players the club has in its squad.

Today Newcastle United issued a statement condemning the comments, which were made from an account which was later deleted.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “We have received a report of racist comments made on Twitter. Northumbria Police takes all reports of racist abuse very seriously and inquiries are being conducted.

“A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is being held in custody.”

A spokesman for the NUFC said: “Newcastle United are appalled by the racist comments made on Twitter in reference to the club and its players.

“Newcastle United has a zero tolerance approach to racism and will be working with Northumbria Police to identify those responsible for such abhorrent remarks.”

Police confirmed they were contacted “numerous times” from around 6pm yesterday evening.

Members of the public also contacted the force via email to express their disgust.

Other Twitter users were quick to condemn the comments.

One user, Rebecca Langmaid, posted: “Can’t believe its 2012 and you have people saying that.”

The news comes just a week after a student from Newcastle was charged over racist comments allegedly made towards former Premier League star and pundit Stan Collymore.

Joshua Cryer, of Jesmond, was charged with two public order offences after the retired footballer called the police over comments, which were also posted on  Twitter.

Collymore, 40, contacted police in Staffordshire earlier this month   after he was allegedly sent two tweets by the 21-year-old, who is believed to a be a law student.

Cryer was arrested and charged by Northumbria Police and is due to appear before magistrates on January 23.

In November there was outrage during a racist incident shortly after Newcastle striker Sammy Ameobi posted a Twitter picture of himself holding a black football boot with the message: “There will always be a place in my heart for the all blacks”.[\quote]

Yeah, thats the comment I saw, made by @CopelandPeter

Strange thing is, radio reports say the man arrested is still in custody and the account has been deleted, yet the account we all think it is (that oner above), is now back up on Twitter, albeit protected??!!.

Randy Savage has reached tipping point, I see.

But he's ok, Randy, man

Knerb Jockey.

Why don't you go back to your own board?

Oh, hang on, it's because all the mag forums are utterly fucking shite.

Compared to RTG!

If that's the same guy he's got a very different tone when he's on here.

15 of the 35 threads on the first page are about us in some way.

It's because the admin over there hasn't got OCD, wanting only one thread per subject so things are nice and tidy.  If there is any admin over there.  Well, it's either that or they're a bunch of obsessed, inbred mongs.  I can't quite decide.

Something about Demba's lips exploding, and that we should be called the C*** army instead of the toon army because of how many black players we have. Total idiot.

The even sadder thing is that their best player is black, not to mention Bent, Bramble etc
