Absolutely zero chance of Everton selling one of their few decent strikers to us.

Douglas built up some credibility earlier in the summer but he's just talking out of his arsehole with this one.

I like Beckford and wouldn't sell him to you.

After a bad start, he improved as the season went on and I think he'll do well for us if he gets regular games. His movement is excellent. If we had a partner for him that could hold the ball up and play him in then he'd be pretty prolific imo.

Not only that, it's tucked beneath another story just indicating how much of a nothing story it is. Irritating how he plugs his papers with bullshit twitter messages.

Agreed. Beckford had an encouraging season, Saha is ageing, Cahill is injured a lot, and Anichebe is a joke. Why would they sell him for anything approaching a 'good value' price? It's unthinkable.

Thankfully, Douglas has probably pulled this out of his arse. Another slow news day as the Erding saga drags on and on.

Beckford's got something, if only as a squad player. At the right price, he'd be worth a punt.

We seem to be aiming for a lone striker system around Ba, but could do with the option of going all out 4-4-2 with a specialist finisher up front. Beckford would be a decent option for that position.

Bit of a random mention here.

The Mata transfer, whose value is €20m will be authorised by Manuel Llorente himself, who year after year must sell his biggest stars. David Silva to Manchester City was the first, David Villa to Barcelona the second, this one will be the third, while Pablo Hernandez will not be joining Newcastle, who'll be staying at least one more year.

Shame, that would have been a very nice signing. Maybe next year.

I'm sure he mentioned the 'international midfielder' thing a week earlier to when his name was mentioned but still.

They really do seem to have hit a wall on striker options, our amazing scouting system seems  a bit lacking now. All these strikers we tried to sign yet could not land one of them, now its a loan deal for Beckford.

SHOCKING.

If there is any trth in this, can't see Everton letting him go too cheaply - as important he is/may be for them, he also signed a 4 year deal when he joined them last summer.

Not in a million years is the Beckford link legitimate.

Wish they didn't assume they have to make up such dross to keep flogging their papers.  I've got an idea!  What if instead of a random tedious, imaginary, transfer story they dedicated their week to writing an informative piece on the club, the clubs history, world football etc.

We know what Ashley's like, can you see him authorising a transfer of someone who turned us down on a Free?

He didn't turn us down on a free did he ?, i thought we tried to buy him with 6 months left on his contract, but Ken Bates wanted silly money so we signed Best instead.

We never went back in for him when he left Leeds on a free, as i remember it.

Ba, (Erdinc), Best and Beckford is a good strikeforce mind. Loven, Ameobi and Ranger nowhere to be seen!
