Hughton looking for 2 or 3 new faces before Tuesday according to Mark Douglas of the Sunday Sun. In another article they also say we're getting close to singing Keane.

Don't know if we really need 2-3 new players tbh. We need them if somebody will be sold. But in case every player stays now, Keane would be enough imo.

If we can afford it then why not..it would be madness not to if we can afford a couple of experienced prem lads on loan.

As somone said in some thread here before - we shouldn't do too many changes this season.

We have/had a good plattform and added now some quality players (Tiote, Ben Arfa, maybe Keane) to it. If we start doing major changes we will be there where we've been some years ago; having players who are here for a good career, but probably not fighting with everything they have.

Its going to be a long season with some shitty results, the more the merrier for me...Also a few seasons back and our elegation season everyone was saying how short on players we were.  We even thought we were short on players in ou promotion season.  Adding two or 3 more wont upset the apple cart.

Depends on what players we would add. If those are players who are certain to be in our starting XI I can see it being a problem. If those are some (loan) signings, with players who are more or less here to just add to the amount of players we have, than I think it's ok.

Well it all depends but if we get offered the chance to sign a quality player on loan who could be a massive asset to the team then i think we shoould go for it.  I do understand where you are coming from about distrupting the team and squad for the sake of it.

I'd be well pleased if before tuesday we brought keane and another proper left back in

Aye, another left back to cover enrique is essential.

Yes. I actually forgot about a left back before. We all know that Jose will pick up an injury during the season once or twice.

Just 1-2m for 1-2 left side cover is cnough.  That said, I am also very willing to give Tavernier / Kazenga a chance.

Our squad is already very large for a team which is not qualified for Europe.

NEWCASTLE United are set to pull off a major coup before Tuesday's transfer deadline with a loan swoop for Robbie Keane - after finally signing France star Hatem Ben Arfa.

United brought an end to one of the longest-running transfer sagas of the summer yesterday, signing Ben Arfa on a season-long loan with a view to a £5.5million permanent deal if he plays 25 games.

The 23-year-old, who has been promised a central playmaker role at St James’ Park, was at Wolves yesterday to see his new side come away with a battling point.

And he will not be the last of the new faces on Tyneside, with a deal for Keane edging closer.

In a switch which will delight supporters, the club are thrashing out the final details of a £1million loan deal with an option to buy the striker for £6million at the end of the year.

There is widespread interest in the forward but Hughton has utilised his close friendship with Keane – he was a guest at the striker’s wedding last year – to push United to the front of the queue for the Republic of Ireland star.

Keane was meant to be joining Aston Villa earlier in the summer but Martin O’Neill’s departure and a lack of funds torpedoed that deal.

United ARE prepared to cough up for the striker, though, and are nearing an agreement that would see them cover a proportion of Keane’s wages.

If the Spurs striker signs it would complete an impressive summer in the transfer market that shows United’s owner Mike Ashley means business.

And, Hughton admits, it could turn Newcastle into a real attacking force in the top flight.

“They are offensive players – they would gives us plenty of options,” he said. “It isn’t just today, it’s about going through the whole season and adapting to different circumstances.

“I’m delighted with signing Hatem. (He) is someone who will excite the fans, who of course have always identified with skilful, attacking players.”

Meanwhile, Steven Taylor could be set for a Championship loan move if he doesn’t sign a new deal at St James’ Park.

The defender is on the transfer list after contract negotiations broke down and the Sunday Sun understands Celtic are also keen on a loan move.

What utter shit. A loan move? Who's that going to benefit?

If he's refusing to sign the contract then we may as well keep him and play him. Very few clubs would be willing to pay his wages for a loan deal, certainly no-one in the CCC and Celtic aren't exactly flush atm either.

Either that or we could not be silly, keep him, play him when necessary and he signs another contract, which considering how long he's been here is quite likely.
