JH
Samba would be an excellent addition. With a zero percent chance of it ever happening. Even if we were willing to match his asking price. A bigger club will come in.
54
We could have a potential top 4 team if we get some of the players that are stated in the article, our team could potentially be. Krul Santon Samba Colo Cissokho Ben Arfa Tiote Cabaye Jonas Ba Sow That is a team that could beat most teams in the league. Edit: I think Sow would be a much better signing then Maiga. AlanSkÃrare
I think Samba and Sow are both way too expensive.

Our B team wouldn't be so bad either. Just a few replacements needed Harper/Forster Simpson Taylor Williamson Raylor/Ferguson Obertan/Sammeobi Guthrie/Abeid Gosling/Vuckic Marveaux/Ferguson Shameobi Best
Disco
Samba, Sow and Cissokho I'd be surprised at spending that even we sold £20m worth of talent given our recent history in the transfer windows.
Guest Shaun
I think we'll get Ridgewell and someone like Kuqi.

taxfree
Samba. £7m. My first thinking is he'll have better options. If not, top stuff. My second thinking is - if we get him, no way we'll pay for a good/top striker.
Ketsbaia
Samba would probably be interested, but there's no way we can sneak him in without others trying. Cissokho would be fantastic too

I'd love it to happen but he'll have miles better options than us and will cost far too much than we'll be willing to pay.

Ikon
Can't help but feel Samba would cost far too much for us. Probably would, seems unlikely but in theory he would be a great signing. How old is he now? 27?
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
There's nowt in the story though, surely? Like the shite we got on Sundays in the summer about our "shock target" and being linked to Odemwingie or Defoe or something.
LooneyToonArmy
http://www.people.co.uk/sport/2011/12/18/newcastle-heading-for-a-tyne-and-wear-tug-of-war-for-aston-villa-s-james-collins-102039-23642631/ NEWCASTLE are heading for a Tyne and Wear tug-of-war for Aston Villa defender James Collins. Toon boss Alan Pardew is lining up a £5million January swoop for 28-year-old Welsh star Collins – but Sunderland are ready to enter the race, with Martin O’Neill hoping to snap up the centre-half for a second time. Yet Villa chief Alex McLeish is desperate to hang on to his Wales centre-half, although he will let another defender, Shane Lowry, leave. New Black Cats boss O’Neill signed Collins from West Ham in 2009 when he was boss at Villa Park and he is ready to pounce again for the defender who has 18 months left on his deal. Although Collins recently spoke of his desire to extend his stay at Villa, Pardew and O’Neill believe they can tempt him to the north east. Pardew has lost centre-back Steven Taylor for the rest of the season with a serious achilles injury and that has left Newcastle vulnerable with little top-grade defensive cover. With money banked from the sales of Andy Carroll, Jose Enrique and Kevin Nolan, Pardew will try to persuade owner Mike Ashley to give him funds so the Toon can keep up their fine start to the campaign. further down that article..... "Another possible target is Jean-Alain Boumsong, who is looking to get back to the Premier League – five years after his spell at Newcastle United. The French centre-half, 32, is available at Greek club Panathinaikos and being offered to top-flight sides either on loan or as a free agent. Boumsong, who played for McLeish at Rangers before moving to St James’ Park, wants to play in England one last time and is desperate to get fixed up next month." but to Villa
