Sifu
The good news is six weeks takes us to pretty much the end of the transfer window. He'll be like a new signing.

Anderson
Something fishy about the fact that he always needs to go back to France for his injuries. You'd think a simple ankle twist could be dealt with by the club physios. A lot of players usually ask to see their favored doctors when facing a possibly serious injury. They are the ones most familiar with the player's medical history anyway, so it's not a daft petition. Also I'm guessing most the club's medical staff are in America and any others are with the lads in Holland, so there's probably no available senior medical staff from the club available to see to him in Newcastle. Makes sense to send him home until the club are back from America tbh. Absolute sickener that he's out for 6 weeks like.

Boring...wait a minute the evil regime paid the player to injure HBA exactly for 6 weeks so that they can claim that he is like a new signing, now that's believable

David28
all these injuries could be a blessing in disquise. might highlight the lack of depth we have and spur us to go after another player or two I share this hope as well. Last time in a transfer window in that we were desperate for more players (Jan 2009) we've lost Given and N'Zogbia and got Nolan and R. Taylor. I don't share the hopes. Guest
We need to get rid of the deadwood first before we can sign people. Already at 24 over 21s, a new striker takes us to 25.

Guest BooBoo
For HBA this season will be about maintaining fitness and getting used to playing again. If I'm honest, I don't think he'll set the world alight this year and it will be unfair to expect him to do so.

Dave
Wonder if we're going to be making any comment on this to confirm the expected recovery time, or if we're just leaving the French newspapers to it.
Guest
Do clubs normally comment on these types of things unless asked in interviews or Press Conferences? Guess we'll find out in Pardew's next interview if it's brought up.

I can't even remember when the last time we didn't "absolutely have to sign four~five quality players this window." When the team is in less dire straits the expectations just go up to match that. Dave
Difference between that and saying it wasn't serious, and going into details of when he should be back. They didn't say whether it was serious or not, that's my point. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20110721/ben-arfa-injury-update_2281670_2397940 Hatem Ben Arfa sustained an injury to his left ankle in a tackle during the club's friendly against Sporting Kansas on Wednesday evening and went to a local hospital for a precautionary x-ray. Consequently he will be leaving the club's US tour tomorrow and the injury will be reassessed over the next 48 hours.
