Geordie Ahmed
It definitely would allow us to break up the Colb/anita axis of death. Which would be awesome. What happens if/when Aarons comes back though? be good to have some genuine pace in wide areas This is what I'd like to happen, it won't though. Elliot Janmaat Mbemba Colo Mbabu Tiote Aarons Sissoko Gini Thauvin Mitro You want us to be relegated? Absolutely nothing wrong with that XI tbh. 2 players started less than 5 premier league games between them. Tiote picked behind a no defending midfield based on one half decent game, a striker who can't score, a winger who hasn't done anything since he signed, a defender that can just attack and a past it centre back. That's just the start. It's the best we could currently name imo. How would you set us up? Elliot Janmaat colo mbemba dummett Tiote Colback Sissoko de Jong wini Perez Having Sissoko and Gini in a midfield 3 ahead is better than playing the anonymous Colback and De Jong in front

Moral of the story is we need signings True BUT trying something else has to be preferred to Anita and Colback as that is clearly a failure, which is why the team Halcyondaze suggested is not that ridiculous really
tgarve
Maybe stick de Jong in the middle in place of one of them. Don't know it till you try it

sh74
4-1-2-3 could be the future.
BONTEMPI
Elliott Janmaat Mbemba Coloccini Mbabu Tiote Sissoko Wijnaldum Perez Thauvin Mitrovic We need something like that, but he wont drop Colback, so Thauvin will miss out.
Guest firetotheworks
Suggests that playing Sissoko and Wijnaldum in the centre is wanting us to be relegated. Puts the midfield that has us second bottom in his own formation. I know the point is that we need more signings, but it's still funny and daft. arnonel
I really dont get why Sissoko and Gina couldnt work in a midfield 3. Put another way, they CAN NOT be worse than the current midfield, and at least there is a glimmer of hope that they will get better. Sticking with what we have is just crazy
xLiaaamx
Sissoko-Tiote-Wijnaldum would have been the first midfield i tried if i was in charge like

TRon
Seeing as it's probably his last game, I thought he signed off with a worthy performance. A waste of a career in the end but looked head and shoulders above Colback over the 90 mins.

Shelveys Hair
Keith Downie @SkySports_Keith 2m2 minutes ago Steve McClaren asked if tonight was Cheick Tiote's last game for NUFC, he said: "not too sure." Sounds like it will be.

Hanshithispantz
Cannot really complain about him leaving but he's shown himself to be the best of the triumvirate of shite the past couple of games. It's a bit of a shame.
Yorkie
If everyone summarised Tiote's career here, I'd imagine we'd all come out with the same thing. He'll be immortalised for that goal and he played his part in some of the more positive memories from the last five years, but I'm not sad he's going. Hughesy
I'm a bit frustrated on balance - he has his faults clearly, but he could, on his day, be excellent. He just never managed to do it consistently after his first season.
xLiaaamx
Some really good memories, got the best years of his career, turned a profit. All the best for the future Cheick!

Sounds like it will be. McClaren was making a point of hugging Cheik after the substitution. Probably a goodbye gesture but really enjoyed watching him patrol the whole midfield area again like the old days. Hopefully Saivet will provide those same qualities or at least we can get rid of the midfield spectators a la Jack of no spades.
