Dr Venkman
Look at it this way,we're financially sound so don't NEED to sell anyone,it'll take a daft offer to get him. If that does happen then we do it during the summer and find a replacement, plus a few extra quid. I'm being optimistic.
Skirge
Cheick Tiote: Why I'll never forget where I come from Oct 30 2011 by Mark Douglas, Sunday Sun THE watch is alabaster white and the matching diamond earrings gleam under the harsh lights of the radio interview room deep in the bowels of St James’ Park. He clutches an invite to a fashion show promoting Mulberry’s Autumn/Winter collection, while a showy white Bentley with personalised number plate and tinted windows waits in the car park. But appearances can be deceptive – as becomes clear from the moment Cheick Tiote opens his mouth for a rare interview. Softly spoken and considered in his answers, you would never guess that Newcastle United’s Ivorian enforcer was a man who bounces off the walls of the dressing room to psyche himself up before games – or is quite simply one of the division’s best midfielders. And as for the trappings of being a professional footballer? Rarely have they been so hard earned or deserved. Few would begrudge a man who still sends a significant chunk of his growing weekly wage back home to the Ivory Coast the odd bit of excess when he remains as grounded as he was the day he came to England. “I don’t think I’ve changed one bit,” he explains, having now mastered a language that he couldn’t speak a word of when he arrived from FC Twente 12 months ago. Not even a rapid rise from unknown Eredivisie bit part player to a proven Premier League performer of pedigree has dulled out memories of a childhood spent playing barefoot football in the streets of Abidjan. He didn’t don his first pair of football pairs until the age of 15. While fortunes on the pitch have flourished, his family’s plight when the Ivory Coast was torn apart by civil unrest captured the headlines for unwanted reasons. He paid for his family – made up of five brothers and two sisters – to be flown from his ravaged homeland. “I had to move my family because it was a difficult moment for everyone there. I had to move my family to another place and it was a worrying time,” he said. “Now they’re back in Abidjan. I moved my family to another place to be clear in my head. When you are thinking about your family in Africa it’s hard to stay focused on your job. My family is very important to me – I still send money home to help them.” Perspective is key here, Tiote attributing his mental strength and determination to the humble upbringing so far away from his current lifestyle. “You never forget your background. Coming from that you learn to appreciate what you have when you come to England,” he said. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/2011/10/30/you-never-forget-where-you-come-from-and-that-makes-you-appreciate-life-here-even-more-79310-29685046/
