Williamson moves with all the grace of a fat ballerina, but he's not nearly as thick as Taylor. And he's decent through the air, at least defensively.

Plus he's obviously a huge threat on set pieces. :hmm:

Man ... just watching the highlights and he was pretty bad on that first goal. Along with a host of other's mind you!

a) Stuck in no man's land, while drifting towards a man Debuchy had already gone over to

b) Blocking Krul's line of sight by standing in said no man's land

c) Awkwardly chesting the ball to Silva to head in, while emphasizing his hands out of the way stance

Williamson's not nearly as good as Taylor.

There's more chance that he'll actually challenge Carroll in the air that Taylor so that's a bonus.

Ah, yes. Williamson who got beaten in the air by N'Zogbia and Moses.

At least he was there challenging rather than running backwards trying to save the ball with his hands.

 Actually come to think of it, Taylor backs off as much as, if not more than, Simpson did.

Chest outwards, stretch ya arms and bend one knee is up with the worst defending in the premier league i must add.

But if he didn't back off or get caught out of position, how would he get the plaudits for putting himself about and playing with geordie passion when he makes a wild, last ditch lunge and hoof out of danger?  No-one likes to see a well positioned defender calmly picking up the ball or blocking a channel and then playing it forward under no pressure, where's the fun in that?
