thenige
Don't always agree with Ronaldo but have to admit he's pretty much spot on here.
Cajun
Okay apart from not being that good why doesn't Shola deserve some respect? He hasn't forced us to pay those wages or picked himself in the side but he has played through numerous injuries when we have been desperate.
maybe_next_year
We don't owe Shola owt, man. He gets paid around £150,000 a month to be useful twice a year. aye mate, i'm sure if your employer treated you like shit you'd think "oh well, i guess thats okay, seeing as they pay me" dosn't matter what agenda you've got against Shola, hes still a human being and an employee of the club, no need for a manager to do that in any organisation, which i doubt Pardew did. I agree, I don't rate Shola as a player but he's been a perfect professional and deserves to play international football as much as anybody at the club if a country is daft enough to pick him. Shola's been treated like royalty here by just about everyone bar Allardyce and Keegan who knew exactly what his value to the club was.

SEMTEX
His abilities are not relevant to how you treat the guy. Could be the worst player in the world, still don't treat him like a bag of shit, given his own exemplary behaviour. Plus, it's a bit much saying the guy is SO SHIT that we can't afford to miss him for a month.

Keefaz
How could such a clause possibly exist? Neither Shola nor the club have the power to prevent Nigeria calling him up.
Ishmael
How could such a clause possibly exist? Neither Shola nor the club have the power to prevent Nigeria calling him up. The clause is that during international fixture windows Shola is actually employed as an apple vendor. You can't call apple vendors up according to FIFA. Our position has not changed. “We have a pre-tournament camp where everyone also selected must turn up. “If any clubs are bent on holding on to the players then we will have no choice but to report them to Fifa. “Then the appropriate sanctions can be taken.”
Cajun
Such a ridiculous rule, you spend massive money buying a player (okay not in Shola's case) and pay them silly wages but you have to let them go away for weeks or they force you to stop playing them. I know clubs know this rule before buying African players I still think it's an absolute nonsense. Especially when the players have no choice either. Village Idiot
You know, when Shola deftly skips past Busquets and runs against Piqué and Alba with Valdés in goal I'll ignore the shirts and pretend it's NUFC vs Barça

Ash
Might be the best thing to happen if he does go, we'd surely have to buy another striker in that case?
Guest expat in the pool
1 of the conditions of shola's new contract must have been that he doesn't go to acon ie doesnt make himself available. thats why he got the deal he wanted. wages and length of contract. if they call him up he has to go unless he makes himself unavailable basically calling his international career to an end. but if he goes he brakes his contract and will no doubt incurr penalities
