brummie
It must be disappointing, but it is only one game. When should we get worried 10? 15? 25? 37? See edit.
Wullie
Forget Smith & Nolan mpst of us have sussed there limitions so it seems pointless to bleat on about them but Joey Barton who is vastly overated mainly by himself but today as a attacking force he was nowhere near C.Adam. Tooj
Tbf to Barton - he was doing the job of two central midfielders today.
Liam Liam Liam O
It must be disappointing, but it is only one game. You won your previous home game 6-0. There's as much reason to base your expectations of the rest of the season on that as there is on today's result Not really. One is much more likely to be a fluke than the other. Thespence
Tbf to Barton - he was doing the job of two central midfielders today. Not when he was on the ball, he had a shocker as a attacking player. Tiote will replace Smith that is why Smith never went from vice-captain to captain as CH knew he was going to replace him this season. BHA will replace Jonas or Nolan. Smith/Barton/Nolan all one paced midfielders who are no doubt great teammates & club men but I don't believe any of them can play at a component level on a regular basis. Also thought it was smart move by Blackpool to play long ball through balls on the deck into space to get our defenders constantly turning. Tbf we did have a lot of shots on target so maybe we are all overreacting.

Guest Heneage
If we are to play the slow intelligent NO10 that Nolan seems to be playing, I'd quite like us to try and get Adam.

madras
congrats to blackpool and i hope they survive in the prem with their brand of give it a go football.......could be a breath of fresh air if it works. on to us........well if there's one bright spot then it's that that WILL be the last time we see alan smith in the first eleven outside of weakened cup teams and injury crises. hughton has an excuse to play nolan next week as it's an away game and he doesn't like to play 2 up front away (added to joans being shocking so far this season) means he can blood ben arfa wide left. further to todays debacle, i don't know whether to blame hughton or nolan as it seemed like nolan was making the decision for the first baffling substitution, and then things got worse, routledge off when he was looking the main threat ? as echoed by someone else barton was ticking over nidely till he realised he had to do smiths shift aswell. anyone see when ben arfs raped them down their left, got to the by line and cut it back to where we had 3 pillocks in a line, stood stock still side by side, not one thought to make a move towards the near post....shameful! Sorry, we have no excuse for playing Nolan next week. Ben Arfa will offer us far more if he's in the middle and given the freedom to go to either side. Ronaldo
I can understand the overreactions. This is essentially our worst result in almost two decades. Too many of those players have no place in a PL squad let alone a starting Xl. Hughton will have to learn and find his bollocks fast.

Ronaldo
Beaten at home by the worst team in the league and a rival. I can't think of a result worse than that since I've been a fan.

How can you call them the worst team in the league already this season. From what I've seen Wigan and West Ham are worse. Worse results: 4-1 @ home to Fulham under Souness, 5-1 @ home to liverpool under kinnear they were both worse performances.
