West Brom 3 - 1 Newcastle United - 05/12/10 - post match reaction from page 38

I must be missing something here. What did Enrique do to deserve such a high rating? Yes he's a good player, and he's far from your biggest problem, but he was well below-par today. Or can Enrique not have a bad game?

Tiote was the only decent player for me today. Enrique dwelled on the ball a hell of a lot today and gave it away loads too. He was actually very frustrating a lot of the time. So no, I wasn't impressed either.

Yep.

Well some of your predictions were a bit optomistic (0-6), thought Cambell looked an absolute liability, apart from Carrolls hand ball assist, he did nothing, I'm sure you will be okay though, funny old division this Premiership. :celb:

You were hardly Brazil and caught us on a particularly bad off day, missing key players.

We'll beat you at our place with a couple of players back.

It's a bit scary if West Ham win this morning (as I expect them to). West Brom have shown no signs of collapse and seem a rather solid Premiership team. West Ham seem to have found a formula that works and I personally expect them to improve and get results as long as the forward line and Parker stay healthy. Wigan are gone, imo, but who will go with them?

We cant keep relying on the sort of mega performances like Villa, Arsenal and the Mackems. Unless you're a top side, those days only come along a handful times every season. Its worrying that we seem incapable of playing "fairly well" and getting a good result. West Ham perhaps is the only example we've had this year where we've took the points without firing on every last cylinder.

In addition, at the start of the season we always looked fired up for the games and even the games we lost, i could take positives and heart from the effort. That's gone south though in the two last aways which have seen pathetic levels of heart and we've looked a beaten side from the moment we've fallen behind. Its very reminiscent of 08/09 and it has to be more than leaders like Nolan and Barton being forcibly replaced by the pea hearted Routledge and Guthrie.

I can understand Ashley's stubborn stance on the Hughton contract issue, he's showing he's very weak at changing a game when things aren't going our way. Nice to see Lovenkrands get his goal but we required a bit more physical presence and over the second 45 minutes, Ranger or Best would have been a stronger option.

A desperate day and another black mark against Hughton. Coming so soon after the Bolton debacle, he should be feeling the mounting pressure. Its quite easy to see that a tough winter could be on the cards.

I only saw Enrique get beat once, a very good game defensively for him.

Well, that was garbage. We never got going and WBA were very easily able to pass our way around our midfield, which was over-ran. Tiote cannot do the job of two men as he tried to do for Guthrie today (who is just too slow and lightweight for this league) No win in 5 for us now which in itself is worrying, with Liverpool up next week. We need some new bodies in, in January - a creative/pacy MC is a must.

People giving Jonas 5 are being too generous.

As bad as anyone today. Guthrie is going to get the most shit, but Jonas and Campbell deserves just as much. They were complete and utter wank the lot of them.

I'd agree with that apart from Tiote who I'd give a 6.

He was where he was supposed to be, doing what he was supposed to do, but there was just no one for him to pass to who wasn't within a 10m radius of him.

All in all, really depressing stuff. Really embarrassing making such an average WBA side look so good. Can't wait for Nolan, Barton, Colo and Williamson to get back. :(

Tbh, I thought Tiote was poor. He wasn't helped by the even poorer Guthrie, but in general I thought his, along with all of the midfield and attacks pressing was shocking. WBA played at a walking pace and we just seemed to be all 'ah right, no bother' about it. The team that went to Arsenal, West Ham and even Wolves would have beaten them today. The worrying thing for me is not only that we didn't turn up, but that we didn't seem to care that we hadn't turn up, there wasn't even any fight.

Krul - 5 - Couldn't have done much with the goals. One terrible flappy moment from a corner.

Simpson - 4 - Reminded me of the shocker he had last time against Thomas

Campbell - 4 - Looks about 80 years old on this showing. Horrible clearances time and time again.

Taylor - 4 - Captain idiot again

Enrique - 4 - Was doing alright until he got booked then it all went down hill.

Routledge - 3 - Standard premiership non-show from him.

Jonas - 4 - Extra point for kicking that microphone.

Guthrie - -10 - Kill yourself

Tiote - 6 - Only one really trying hard

Carroll - 3 - Terrible game

Ameobi - 0 - Should also kill himself

Lovenkrands - 6 - A better showing than usual and at least saved us a tiny bit of pride

Ranger - 5 - Did what none of our front players did all day and actually pressed and chased.
