i think the main problem with hoofball is the centerback williamson, all he does with the ball is give back the ball to krul....long ball...or try to find cissé and ba...long ball.

defenders are first attack players, so with improvment in the defense with players good on the ball who can find the midfield players with a straight pass or the wingers it will improve all the game.

definitly, i think a debuchy and a better player than williamson can change the style of playing of the team.

williamson and simpson, your are good, but not enough good to play good football.

Completely agree about Williamson. I almost find it hard to fault him for it because he clearly knows his own limitations and more often than not would just take the easy route - pass back to Krul or kick it long. Definitely did it way more than necessary though.

The difference between him and Colo handling a difficult pass is comical. Looks like there should be about 5 levels between them. As much to do with Colo's brilliance as anything.

By the way, there is still room for massive improvement. The Everton performance especially first half was a debacle of sorts given the importance of the match. He needs to stick to 4-3-3 given our players or if he is to go 4-4-2 he needs to deploy the right players for it. That said, both would work with the players we have if we kept to playing football rather than constant long ball which was deployed too much at Goodison.

I don't think Pardew fully appreciates the defensive coverage, and the shelter Tiote provides to the back 4. Couple Tiote's workrate (and he is the sacrificial lamb in midfield, in that doesn't commit or bomb forward into shooting positions), with the nuisance value when the wide attackers (Ba/Cisse - HBA) drop back and the 433/451 isn't quite as defensively suspect as some people believe - at least Pardew when he switches to a defensive minded 442.

And Ba-Cisse don't have the tools (and arguably the desire either) to be utilised as a work-horse/Twin-Towers set-up, where a high premium is placed on adhering to a physical, back-to-goal centre-forward role. As opposed, in the 433, the outfield six look as if they genuinely enjoy their football. We certainly play a fluent, possession orientated football in the 433 - and the first point of team defense is possession retention.

Williamson needs to be relegated or removed from the pecking order. The bloke doesn't have the composure and technical ability required to deal with the opposition strikers' defensive press. It's all good well to upgrade the fullback positions in the Summer, but you can't continue have a liability like Willo there - who doesn't have the ability to play a simple outlet pass (to the flanks/rb).

Saw it on Twitter -

All four of Pardew's former clubs - Southampton, Reading, West Ham, and Charlton - were promoted this season.  He really did have one hell of a season.
