LucaAltieri
If by some fluke we do qualify for Europe then Mike Ashley's model is proven right, isn't it?
LoveItIfWeBeatU
Far too early to even consider it. Our current squad is too thin to cope with the League and the two cup competitions. If we made Europe I certainly wouldn't complain though. It would certainly be a carrot to help us attract new players.
Dave
Of course if (and its a big if) we did qualify Ashley might go mental... Yes. ...and provide money to sign loads of players. No.
Anderson
Of course if (and its a big if) we did qualify Ashley might go mental and provide money to sign loads of players. He might realise how good a player we ended up with the last time he spunked £10m+ on someone. :colo:
oldtype
When is it "okay" to ask the question though? I don't think you could argue that we have a realistic possibility of sneaking into 6th or 7th at this point. The title of the thread is "Europe?," not "Europe." RupertCommunicator
I'd love us to qualify for Europe, doubly so if it was at the expense of the unwashed. I also think that we could mitigate the effect on our squad by only fielding youth players in the Milk cup. That way we can use our reserves for the Euro group stages then use our main squad after that. After all, no one cares about the league cup, even the smoggies won it FFS! Disco
I think we should wait until the league reaches it final countdown tbh. Think we might be always the pretenders this season with regards to Europe. If we do qualify its safe to say we'll rock the night away.
Karjala
Fulham earnt £8.5m for reaching the Europa League final last season. Imagine what Ashley would do with that...

Guest axel
:weep: We would have been 4 points behind a CL spot if we hadn't conceded these stupid goals against the unwashed and spurs
Mistle17
A bit hasty I think. Still plenty of time to fuck up our league safety...
Karjala
overall gotta be over the moon with this season. but IF we'd got more from Blackpool, Wigan, Blackburn, Fulham, Stoke at home and hadnt condeded two injury time equalisers against scum n spuds... summerof69
It is in my pinion mad to say we don't have a chance of qualifying especially with some of the players we have waiting to come back, however i don't think we will because we don't have great depth and we don't have the best record with injuries plus other teams will pick up form in my opinion. A top ten finish would be brilliant and more than most expected so if we achieve that and second season syndrome doesn't take affect next year then witha some good additions to the squad it is a possibility. Though still i would be happpy with survival.

Guest
I do think we've got back on a par again very quickly with the mid-table clubs. This is where we should have been 2-3 seasons ago.
henke
Of course it'd be nice to play in europe again, and a big plus for retaining players like carroll and tiote as well as attracting a better standard of player next year. However i feel we're at least a season away from being a europa leage team, with a thin squad the games would take their toll next season. Lets walk before we try to run. Mick
If we qualified for Europe this season we would struggle next season because our squad is far too thin. Not that I think we will qualify for Europe.
