Guest
Wigan will not get better than SWP, so good deal for them as a replacement if they get him imo.

Guest
Highly unlikely they'd get someone that good again?
ponsaelius
SWP would be a weird signing for them. Not a very Wigan-like move.
ponsaelius
Highly unlikely they'd get someone that good again? Unlikely. I don't think it would be that hard to find somebody better than SWP though. Could probably just play a training cone or something.
Guest
Wigan could be perfect for him. After so long being a bit part player then being first choice where he'll be the main man might give him the confidence to do well.

SWP lost his a long time ago.

Skirge
Seems Villa are willing to pay the £9m asking price and pay him the £60k per week he is after, its up to us to match it or he will be off to them.

STM
I've always thought we would wait until another club made their move first anyway, it would have been stupid to move in first. I doubt whether we will pay him 60k a week, we might stump up the 9m.
Ketsbaia
£9m shouldn't be the problem because he's worth that and I think the club know that. But a lot of what they do defies logic so I wouldn't be surprised if they just sat back and let Villa have him. And I'd be gutted.
Dave
I'd like to think he'd prefer to come here but I don't think anyone (including the club, if they do want him) can just expect him to sit back and wait for us. If Villa offer a good package and meet the asking price he'll go there.
ponsaelius
Am I the only one that thinks £9 million is a total bargain? We'd be stupid not to go for in for that price. It's not even considerably more than we sold him for and he's twice the player now.

It's not even considerably more than we sold him for and he's twice the player now. I don't disagree, this madness of a thought process that goes along the lines of he's in the last year of his contract and we can get him for free next summer, ignores the simple fact that he'll have way better options than us next year. It's either pay 9 mill and get him now or not get him at all.

ponsaelius
Another thing is that these young English players are going for extortionate money because they're homegrown. N'Zogbia is not only homegrown, but he counts as one of our club grown players too. So he's exactly what we need as a player - pace, dribbling, directness, set-pieces etc, full French international, already settled in the league and the area, counts as one of our club-grown players and is available for seemingly £9 million. I don't think that's what's being reported at all. All the quotes i've seen suggest his contract demand are 'reasonable'.
