Demba Ba will quit Newcastle this summer and pocket a staggering £3million of a £7m buy-out clause.

The Magpies are furious details of the in-form Senegalese striker’s contract have been made public.

But they are resigned to losing the 26-year-old at the end of the season.

And his advisers made it clear widespread interest in him would inevitably lead to his departure after just one season in the North East.

Six Premier League clubs including Tottenham and Liverpool are ready to meet the buy-out clause leaving Newcastle powerless to keep Ba if the player wishes to move on.

West Ham were in a similar situation when they were relegated from the Premier League last season. Under the terms of Ba’s contract, they were forced to give him a free transfer.

It seems negotiations over Ba’s move to Newcastle last summer depended on the buy-out clause being inserted, after the club refused to meet the player’s personal demands or pay a significant amount of agents’ fees.

Ba, who earns around £30,000 a week plus appearance money, is expected to double his salary with another move and prefers to stay in the Premier League despite interest from European clubs.

His departure will inevitably lead to more speculation about the return of Andy Carroll to Newcastle 18 months after joining Liverpool for a huge £35m.

Carroll’s relationship with Liverpool is disintegrating. Friends claim he would jump at a cut-price return to Newcastle.

Yawn.

Utter bollocks. 'It seems' 'He prefers' , what a bunch of scumbags.

Being a football journo must be a piece of piss these days...

Go on twitter.  Find a rumour.  Print it with "sources close to the player say".  Job Done.

right so he may or may not choose to leave next summer and we may or may not resign carroll as a replacement and that we're swapping the 2......

Jesus Christ people get paid real money for this shit. I know there are a number of fine football journalists who really put in real work into finding out if a transfer or whatever is happening or not and who double and triple check it before putting it for print but bloody hell idiots like that give the whole profession a bad name

Hopefully he doesn't play tomorrow and then he can play on Wednesday night, fly home on Monday. Wont suffer from jet lag because Bata is only 1 hour ahead of us. Give him Tuesday off and back upfront on Wednesday.

It's not so much the jet-lag its the travel that tires them out, especially when they could be sat at home all day playing fifa on ps3 all day.

yeh thats why he can have tuesday off. It shouldn't take two days for him to get over it, i've seen him topless.

Ba backs Cisse to excel

Newcastle striker Demba Ba says that newly-signed Magpies marksman Papiss Demba Cisse is going to be a hit for the club.

Cisse joined the Tynesiders from German side SC Freiburg, where he netted 39 goals in 65 matches.

Ba and Cisse could be in action for the Toon in the Premier League match against Blackburn on Wednesday evening.

This after Senegal crashed out of the African Cup of Nations by losing all three of their first-round matches; to Zambia, Equatorial Guinea and Libya.

Ba is now ready to shift his focus back to club duty, were he is confident his Senegal strike partner will make a positive contribution.

"He is a proper goal scorer. It's a good signing for Newcastle - he's going to help us achieve something we want to achieve," Ba said.

"The rest of my season is about Newcastle - so we [he and Cisse] are going to do everything for them and forget about what has happened here."

Cisse will wear the number nine shirt for Alan Pardew's team.
