Skirge
what so he had a knee scan ? I am sure the reasons Chelsea walked away was financial and nothing to do with his knee
LoveItIfWeBeatU
All the power is with Ba. If Ba is still here in the Summer, NUFC/Pardew said they'd try to get him to sign a new contract or move him on. The only way they could guarantee being able to move him on is by releasing him on a free. He may just play out the year and a half of his contract and then leave on a free. That way he gets his signing on fee from the next club he goes to. He can also ask for more money as the new club won't have had to pay a signing fee for him. Jack Flash
Will be fuming with the player, the club and the world in general if we lose him near the end of January with no replacement in sight. Buying a striker now would alleviate so many problems. It's such a simple solution but alas...
loki679
Take the contract off the table and stick him on the bench. What good would that do us?! We could use Cisse in the middle where he's at his best with HBA and Marv/Obertan*/Remy with him. We'd still have a decent strike force and it'll lay down a marker that this shit isn't acceptable. It'll piss off his agents royally if he's not getting his appearance bonus too which would be nice. *I would never recommend the bulb usually but he actually looks ok playing on the left. Skirge
Take the contract off the table and stick him on the bench. What good would that do us?! Still would be paying him £20k a week, I can see the temptation of not even selecting him for the squad and maybe totally dropping him as a punishment for this farce would be a wakeup call for him HOWEVER we are as much to blame for agreeing to the clause in the first place, we created this mess. It's such a simple solution but alas... how so, buy remy and have the 3 of them on the books thus forcing ba to make a choice? if he chose to stay we'd be fucked, pardew can't manage 2 good strikers so fuck knows what he'd do with

M1tche
Maybe this whole knee think is being blown out of proportion and he wants a deal that suits what he is actually achieving at the club at the minute. if he's on 20k standard and then the rest is performance based, maybe he just wants a regular deal for a striker very capable of getting 20 goals a season.I would guess pretty much every club in the league has their main striker on (basic wage wise) than him and there's only a couple better than him and less than a couple that score more goal at this point in time. I think the fact Chelsea ran a mile shows this knee thing isn't being blown out of proportion. I can't blame Demba for wanting more security but not many clubs have taken him up on that. Don't see how they've ran a mile, they only had talks. He wont have had a medical so how would they know the full situation with his knee after one meeting. I think the main problem for us keeping him is that his basic wage demands are higher than we can afford (based on your wage structure) and after all the talk and extra fees other club aren't willing to pay it due to all this talk of his exploding knee. Like an earlier poster said, stoke found the problem with his knee then went a signed owen who is only second behind dyer for injuries.

mrmojorisin75
can't see chelsea baulking at basic wage personally, perhaps due to the uncertainty over the knee they wanted some clauses in and ba's people said fuck that

Guest
Will be fuming with the player, the club and the world in general if we lose him near the end of January with no replacement in sight. Buying a striker now would alleviate so many problems. It's such a simple solution but alas... Will probably get laughed at here, but it's very similar to the Bernard situation in 2004/5. He faffed around not signing a new contract, only we got Babayaro early in the window and he was no longer needed, ended up wrecking his career pretty much. If we were to go out and get a striker now then we'd be in a position to do the same with Ba. We won't though.
