Mole_Toonfan
Tbf they have money to burn i don't think they give 2 shits. Although the money to had to pay for him plus the loyalty bonus and agent fees must push it up to around 15m surely? Just wish we could have got that much
Dave
£2.5m was the agent fees, if the story is right. CHELSEA were forced to pay £10million to take Newcastle United striker Demba Ba to Stamford Bridge. Sunday Express Sport can reveal that Ba’s advisors received a £2.5m pay-out – and it didn’t come out of the £7.5m transfer fee. Chelsea triggered Ba’s escape clause of £7.5m, one which Newcastle’s hierarchy made strenuous attempts to remove with talks over an improved deal, once the January transfer window opened for business. At first the move fell down when Chelsea were made aware of the extra payment on top of the agreed fee, but the European champions, anxious to bring in support for Fernando Torres, decided to stump up more cash. Arsenal were also interested but weren’t prepared to meet Ba’s £80,000-a-week pay demands.
Dr. Nguyen Van Falk
Maybe Ba asked for it that way.

BONTEMPI
So how much did Ba take? And how much did it leave us?
Neil
So, £10m there. £80,000 p/w for 3.5 years is what, close to £15m? Commitment of £25m. Blimey.

WarrenBartonCentrePartin
I am sure we know where the weakness is his knee is. Plenty of time to start planning the perfect tackle. hope that's a damn sight better than the perfect corner.

Dave
I thought Ba got some of the fee too? Presumably part of the £2.5m IMO. It's him and his gang.
Jack Flash
The club/Pardew will be furious that's been revealed "He has to find the extra money for a striker, as we're not going to get one in for the Ba money"
Fenham Mag
I bet Ashley thought he could take the extra £2.5 Million out without anyone noticing.
Disco
I thought it was Ba + Nufc share the £7.5m and then agents get whatever on top.

I thought it was Ba + Nufc share the £7.5m and then agents get whatever on top. That was always my understanding too.

They'll have been hoping we believed the "club only get half the fee" stuff. £7.5 million can buy you a very good striker if you're willing to spend it (on a striker). Guest neesy111
So this means we are in profit for this window as things stand...

Yeah i know i was just saying regardless of what they say he's still going to have to get some cash out because in this month especially its very difficult to replace that quality for even 7.5m. Whether we got 5m or 7.5m it's irrelevant really as he would still have to get off his arse and spend some cash especially with our supposed targets. wormy
I thought it was Ba + Nufc share the £7.5m and then agents get whatever on top. This. Sounds like two separate negotiations to me. I just figured that on top of Ba getting his lump of the fee that Chelsea have simplly been equally rinsed by his advisors.
alexf
Good news i guess regarding the extra £2m. For some reason watched the highlights of chelsea's game from saturday and man it really looks like he will be perfect for them. He was making little runs here and there and just getting the ball delivered perfectly to him each time. Bit of a dick comment by him about world class players but he is absolutely right. Mata,Hazard etc will give him endless service and i think he will displace Fernando Torres easily if it's based on footballing reasons.
Guest bimpy474
Player employs agent. Player should pay him. Just a simple change of the rules is needed, agents are cunts nearly 100% of them.

That's how it works with agency in most other fields. Would slash agent cunttery overnight.

Still got respect for Milner for just using the PFA (if he still does?).

JH
My Gran showed me the back of a Sunday paper today with Ba on the back, said "I see he scored two goals yesterday. The greedy bastard!" then full on pelted the paper at me I had nowt to do with him leaving!
