Sylvain Marveaux - arrested

Recommended Posts

Doubt any of the French clubs who would want him could match his wages so could see him going out on loan similar to Xisco for a year or two. Think Lyon on loan with Gomis coming here in January could happen.

Our number 10 is canny creative, like.

Does it tell you anything when 2 of our most creative players can't get a game?

That they, rightly, need to bring more than just some creative ability to get in the side? Although, I'd argue that HBA isn't in the team because of his lack of creativity, he could rack up a bunch of assists but his decision-making has been far too erratic.

6 teams have scored more than us in the league :dontknow:

Excellent, that doesn't mean we couldn't do better if we used other players.

Would we do better with those two in the side or are you just moaning for the sake of it? (would be unlike you tbf).

I don't think I'm moaning any more than you are about people moaning, ironically.

Finished here.

It seems so, for me any sort of involvement today would have meant that he had a slim chance of having a future here but alas it's not to be, what an absolute shame.

I would've liked to seen more of Marveaux but let's be honest about it, he was pretty average when he did get a look in. I'm not entirely sure why he's behind Obertan in the pecking order but that's about it.

Bollocks was he average all the time, he had some very good performances.

He never excelled consistently, but he showed more than enough promise. Of course no certainty he would have made it, but would have liked to have seen him given a run. Around December/January last year he was one of our top two players.

Similar to Hatem in that he can unlock defences, but very different in how he went about it. Marveaux would draw players and find a pass at just the right time, Hatem draws players and then beats them. That sort of creative player is always going to have good and bad days.

Looked a decent player to me tbh. Not the hardest working in the world (weird considering one of the video compilations before we got him made a point of showing his closing down IIRC) but a silky touch and great eye for a pass. I'd have him in the squad 100 times out of 100 ahead of the likes of Obertan.

Oh well.

You could count them on one hand.

He was a winger who did his best work in the centre of the park, but when we played him there games passed him by. I don't know how we could accommodate him, particularly now we've got Anita and Sissoko on top of Cabaye and Tiote.

It's a shame, as he would've been a very handy option for any non-dinosaur manager.

Yeah I can see why a manager wouldn't want to trust him to start regularly but he would certainly have provided some options from the bench and in cup games to rotate the squad.

You can count the games that passed him by on one hand too, he never played.
