He can be a liability in some games, but like you say he's still good in others.  He should have been replaced no doubt, but compared to our other options has has to play IMO.  Especially at home where he's been one of the few players who takes responsibility in building attacks with positive forward passing.

As if McClaren had the opportunity to replace him but chose not to and then chose to give him a new contract. Set the tone for continued mediocrity and shitness before a ball was even kicked.

My understanding is that McClaren wanted to sign a new CB but was told he couldn't.

There's 2 Charnleys in that picture.

Is it spot the difference?

Well ... we are on our way down anyway. Would like to see more of Lascelles, so hope he gets a run now, and good luck to him. Have been sick of Coloccini for a while now.

The decision to persist with this ass clown as a first teamer and not replace him with a top tier centre back in the summer, is the main reason we have been horrendous defensively all season. Will not miss him one bit.

We're paying the price for keeping Taylor so long here like and is exactly why he cannot get a new one. Numbers wise we have the right amount of CBs (with people like Dummett & Mbabu 5th/6th choice), but keeping him so long and not getting a better and more reliable senior centre-back has fucked us. Chelsea lose their first choice CBs, they have Cahill & Ivanovic.

Not saying our options should be that good, but not Steven fucking Taylor.
