What is your wage for that tax like, i'm only paying £50, mind you i'm only on £10440, 25 hours while i pick the kids up from school, £15666 when i back full time and pay roughly £80 then.

Roughly £40k. (bit personal like)

The strike has nothing to do with the numbers though. Ignore the wage, it's the fact that I'm being asked to pay more, for longer for less when I retire. That's why I'm striking. The actual numbers don't come into it. It's not right.

Understand that mate, i have nothing but sympathy for you as you can only go on the figures you earn, the hours you work and pension contributions you make, rightly so to, my point is your deal even after what the Government is doing will be far superior to a private sector worker, again not your fault either.

I'm being asked to pay more, work longer and for a worse pension when I retire. Ignore the numbers involved - that's why we're striking, because it's not fair.

The average public sector pension is £8000 a year. Hardly gold-plated is it?

For me to get that pension when i worked in the private sector i would have had to pay 5 times what you do for yours, estimate but fairly accurate from what i remember.

So i was paying indirectly for yours and couldn't afford my own, see why i think a strike is wrong.

I dont think your wrong as its your situation and you judge it from you point of view, but i've seen it from both sides, its too scewed towards the public sector.

this will sound awful but in order to compare you'd have to divulge your financial details, how much paid, pension paid etc

Pm me with an e-mail address and i can send one of the offers i get, i have one on my external e-mail account, you can see for yourself.

Pension wise, i think i was paying £80 a month to get a pension worth, £3000 a year (this was ten years ago so its nowhere near that figure for £80 a month now).

Now for my NHS pension i pay £43.52 a month to get a pension of just under £3,500 with a £12,000 lump sum when i retire.

See the maths and why i have no sympathy for strikes.

so you are saying in the NHS there are lots of deals and therefore there are for all public sector workers ?

No not quite but as there are over a million in the NHS alone and gods knows how many in the civil service, you can see its quite nice deal to get.

And as i was saying to Midds, if you are a key worker, teacher/NHS/police and more you get preference for mortgages, shared ownership deals too.

My mortgage started in 1998. No mention of this 'key worker' business.

Ahhh well it started after 1998, i got mine 3 years ago, i got as much mortgage as possible and the key worker scheme paid the rest, now i pay both back.

That scheme is now extended to first time buyer who aren't key workers too, so its decent enough scheme but key workers take priority, whatever funding is left is then allocated to first time buying non key workers.

How else would i base it then, the scheme applies to you up there too, as i side issue, you trying buying a house down here at the prices they are, you cant do it without help, and from your tone you seem to be turning it into a north/south thing which it certainly isn't, not for me anyway.

You are looking for a angle on me that isn't there, i'm being straight with you, showing you facts to back up what i say, go look and see if you can prove otherwise, and if any of this stuff helps you, then i'll be happy for you, i really would.

my wife is a classroom assistant, specialising in special needs, no extra help and no i don't mind you getting extra help down there  as the warped system we have now means  it is necessary for the most important to be massivle subsidised.

Well i know you can get help with a Mortgage, as a classroom assistant you wife is classed as Category 2 key worker, i think thats what they call it, all depends on what funds are left and when, where you apply but its something that could help you if you were looking for a house.

Also phone around all the utility suppliers and just ask, some do schemes but dont advertise it, you can get canny deals, just have the front to haggle.

Cheap - check

Injured - check

Plays in mutiple positions so we dont need extra players - check

Speaks French - check....ish

Sign him up.

that could be barnetta aswell. not 100% about the speaking french bit though.

Barnetta is Swiss, therefore he will speak Frenchie, its the main language in Switzerland, sign him up too :D

Actually depends which part of Switzerland he's from. Might speak German.

I've been a dozen or so times and its always been french, a bit of German, which i found strange as i thought it would be mainly German, just never heard much of it to be honest like, never heard any Italian, has a sprinkling of swiss which is the wierdiest stuff i've ever heard, and i've heard Welsh :D.

Fair bit of English mind, which was surprising.

Where did you go in Switzerland? All the Swiss people I've met all spoke German (more than likely from the German speaking regions).

I have no idea how the Pieters thread have morphed into a thread on language and Blair's policies, but on your question, people in Geneva speak predominantly French
