Of course young, promising European players prefer Newcastle.

It gets them into the PL on the promise that they can move onto Liverpool or a big club in a couple of years time.

I see what you did tharr..

Are there any articles online about Santon? Maybe explaining why he fell from stardom? Would love to know the story.

It's getting a bit tiresome seeing "It's all well and good creating chances but if you haven't got someone to finish them.." when we have a striker who had scored something like 8 in 13 games (2 of which were in the last match) and another with a consistent record of scoring in just under every 2 games (see sig ;))

You can see from my post history I was very eager for us to sign another forward and very pissed off when we didn't but that doesn't explain why some seem to be completely ignoring players already here to prove a point :dontknow:

I`d regard it as a golden opportunity given the circumstances to see if we have some rough diamonds in our own backyard. This fall should be a decent chance for both Best and Sammy to prove themselves, lets just hope they get enough games to get somewhat comfortable.

is everyone p*ssed off he's right footed or something?

By pointing out he plays as a right back in this match?

Kadar is also playing btw. Just tackled Santon pretty rough.

ah naa, i'd seen a few digs about is all

unless he's totally and utterly fucking useless with his left i don't see an issue - and if he's that good with his right i probably wouldn't care less

unlikely to be a marauding left back granted but i have a good feeling about this one

If he's played at left back for Mourinho at Inter Milan and won praise from the special one, then he can obviously do a job there. Ideally we'll buy a genuine left back at some point and he can move across to the right. Or maybe Shane Ferguson will push for the left back spot. Santon will add a lot going forward in any case, and he seems to have the Enrique knack of matching opposing wingers stride for stride then dispossessing them.

What's relevant surely is whether the lad sees himself as a LB or a RB. He may previously have been happy to play anywhere just to get in the team and get a game, and he may still be happy to do so, but if he's any good and has aspirations for the future, he's going to want to specialise and play regularly in his best position. From what people have said that seems to RB rather than LB, especially if that's where he's getting a game at international level.

Have to say I'm very worried about this signing, especially as he has big boots to fill. If he gets off to a shaky start making a bunch of errors, he'll get the groan treatment after a few games and might never recover.
