Why isn't Gosling playing? I have more faith in him than Guthrie.

Why?

Guthrie just doesn't seem to be Premiership quality to me. Gosling though isn't a finished article has more potential than what Guthrie has. Guthrie has a similar dreadness about it as Smith playing for us does.

That's just bollocks tbh. Comparing Guthrie's NUFC performances with Smith's is laughable.

Obviously I would rather Guthrie play ahead of Smith, but also I would rather take my chances with Russian roulette than play Smith.

Russian roulette? Decent game that.

Guthrie's no Tiote but he'd walk into Stoke's central midfield. Him and Cabaye are more than good enough to boss that area if we make sure the ball actually makes its way into it.

He wouldn't like, he's not 6ft+.

Begovic; Wilkinson, Shawcross, Woodgate, Wilson; Pennant, Delap, Whelan, Etherington; Crouch, Walters

On paper that team just looks s***.

Mackem talk

no he's right, i've just printed it out and it looks really s***

It looks shit any way you look at it. Quite shit actually. Still, cold night in Stoke.

I can live with Guthrie like, Cabaye will just have to stick an extra shift in. Obertan is getting a bit silly now though, he's had 1 good game.

Which game was that then?

Did well against Blackburn (I think it was Blackburn anyway, I vaguely remember praising him after some game anyway)

Think Obertan will cause some problems for them. Don't think Wilson is a particularly nippy left back, could draw a few fouls, work himself some space to run in behind. I want to be positive and think he just needs one thing to go right for him. Looking at their side you hope Pardew's instructed us to just pass it around them.

Would like to see Ben Arfa on at some point, although wouldn't be too disappointed as he'll get clogged.

I still find it disgusting that a well established premier league side willingly starts Delap.

He's got a useful skill, can't blame a team for taking advantage of it.

He's set up 42 goals from his throw in's

Guthrie's fine. He's about what you expect from a back-up central midfielder for a team of our standing - decent enough, can do a job, not a world beater. However, when compared to Tiote, he is a massive drop down.

Man Utd back up CM - Anderson, Cleverley

Chelsea back up CM - Meireles, Mikel

Tottenham back up CM - Sandro, Huddelstone

And I've set up 86 goals from my weak back passes but I would still consider myself a better player.
