This "not been tested"...

Even if we took three points from Man City it would be classed as an off day for them and not us deserving it, in a way I kinda like no other fkers believing in us. If players

start believing their own hype then that can bring its own issues, but not being given credit can bring them even more together as a team.

Players with a point to prove tend to give a little more on the pitch.

imagine if we went to man city and they rested a few and had an "off" day, and/or we put in a defensive master class and krul makes a bunch of good saves. Would be amazing.

Or even more fantasy....Ben Arfa gets the winning goal to kill off the demons of 12months ago

City will beat us comfortably, not that we'll necessarily play badly.

If Tiote's fit for Man U we've got an outside chance of a draw, their defence can be got at and we have the players to do it.

We've got every chance of beating chelsea at home imo, they're giving away so many chances.

This attitude is really starting to grate on me. Everyone wrote us off last night yet we passed that test with flying colours. After their dominant opening to the season, Man Utd haven't looked great since then and are conceding the most amount of chances throughout the whole league. Nevermind having an outside chance of a draw, we should be going there with the belief we can win - they aren't unbeatable. Thankfully it looks as though our players have this belief in themselves, just wish this would transfer to some of our fans too.

in 10 games the 2 manchester clubs have only failed to win at home once (when manure were thrashed by city). going into those games expecting anything but a loss will be setting ourselves up for dissapointment. Not that we cant get something like, city needed a deflection around 70 mins to get passed everton a couple of weeks ago, and manure are not invicible, but we'd have to play out of our skins to get anything.

Nothing is impossible, but anything more than 0 points against the two manc teams would be a bonus.

Most important for me is to get through the matches without injuries, suspensions and most preferably any thrashings that can ruin our good spirit atm.

If we are lucky and play out of our skins, we might nick a point or three, but its not likely, this year at least...  O0

The Metro today says that our upcoming matches will give a 'more accurate gauge' of our quality. How, exactly? So we get beaten by Man City, that finally shows us where we stand, firmly in the position of 'not as good as Man City' along with basically everyone else they've played from Man U to Wolves.

It will be 'more accurate' in the sense of whether they have to start considering us as real contenders for European places etc.

It must say something about the team last season if our start has been easy as we didn't win any of the same fixtures last season.

The big problem with playing Man City/Man U/Chelsea in a row is the potential for 3 losses in a row. Spread out throughout the season 3 losses against these 3 would be no huge problem, but as Bolton have shown its difficult to get out of the losing habit. Its great that we can see potential in getting points out of the next few games, it just shows how good a start we have made. Given current form I'd be dissapointed to come away from the Chelsea game without any points, but it is a big ask to get anything from Manchester, but its a big ask to come away from Stoke with 3 points.

I'm fairly confident we could lose all three of the Chelsea and Manchester games without too much damage to the morale. Obviously a different matter if we get bummed 7-0 a couple of times, but otherwise I think Pardew will keep it in perspective and we would bounce back quickly.

The Sky Sports commentator for the Stoke game said at full time that "we are now a team that should be taken seriously" (something along those lines anyway).

Otherwise, media outlets just want to find an excuse for us having a great run. We are there on merit, enough said.

I'm actually more disappointed at the prospect of losing our defensive record than our unbeaten record, strange as that sounds. If we are soundly beaten by better teams then fine; they are better. I like how solid we've been though, hope we can maintain that and not concede a load of goals.

This "not been tested" is pure shit. We were not fancied by any of the 'pundits or experts' at the start of the season. Now we're sitting in third and continue to bamboozle the predictions. We just broke the pattern that was set out for us and rather than look for explanations that are genuine they just come out with all sorts of excuses to try and leave their initial predictions as intact (in their minds) as possible.

I seriously believe it is possible for us to take 4 pts from those three fixtures. We may not, but it's definitely possible. I think we will prove to be City's toughest test to date because of our defensive record. Chelsea are there for the taking if they continue to defend the way they have been (that David Luiz is a fucking liability if you ask me), and Man U are not defending well either atm - though they were a more disciplined side against Everton.

Football commentators/writers are some of the biggest examples of cognitive bias you're ever likely to see.  In fact football generally is rife with it.

The fact remains that the only teams we have managed to beat have been poor and you could argue actually significantly poorer than last season.

Our defensive record is only the best because the top teams have handed out absolute pummelings (occasionally, to each other) and we have yet to even meet the likes of Man City/United, Chelsea or Liverpool.

Spurs got stuffed off Man Utd away and City at home. Clearly not top 6 material. Even if we get turned over in these 3 games, it's how we do after them against Norwich & Swansea which will truly gauge where we are imo.

My exact opinion in the OP. If that's the test, everyone has failed and nobody can finish anywhere except Man C.

Not to get too over excited by it at all, but didnt we give citeh a good run in both games last season and our squad is alot stronger and in better form than it was then and yes there's is in better form, but haven't improved as much as we have in the time between, there's no reason we cant give em a game (no im  not saying we'll win, but really do think they struggle and find it hard to beat us)

They've improved alot imo, if they had the right manager and replaced barry with tiote they'd give Barca a run for their money.

Cant see us beating city.  Unless david silva is injured.

manu are vulnerable, pardew may find their weak points.  We can match chelsea as well.

imo 33% chance of beating manu, and 44% chance beating chelski.  about 8% chance vs city

a draw in those games is good result.  No doubt tho we will be subject to dodgy ref decisions that cost us points:(

33% chance of winning in Old Trafford? That's just daft. (or not sure if serious)

Anyway you're gonna face a pleasant surprise when you go to your bookie before that game.
