Ketsbaia
2 years ago this weekend, 7 of todays XI were in the squad as we beat Peterborough 3-1. Now we're 2nd in the Premier League. Incredible, it really is.

TRon
I thought we were very comfortable in the first half with Best and Ba giving their centre backs a good working over. In the second half we just lost too many key midfield players and in the circumstances to hold on for a win was superb.

cp40
How the fuck are you lot second?? If we had anything remotely decent up front we'd have won that. Can see you coming down to earth with a bang after your next two games. cos we beat you 2-1, Did you not see it? it was lush.....

QBG
Krul 7 - Rarely tested. Did well when he was. Simpson 7 - Brilliant today against Baines and Drenthe until he switched flanks, one mistake was his marking on Rodwell for their goal. S. Taylor 7.5 - Solid and composed throughout. Coloccini 8 - One of the best CBs in the league imo, exudes class everytime he touches the ball, never panicked once. R. Taylor 8 - Wonderful technique for the goal, and defended excellently throughout. Marveaux 5 - Looked decent until the injury, hope its nothing serious. Guthrie 8.5 - Some of his passing and vision is first class, has helped minimize the loss of Tiote even if it is still noticeable. Cabaye 6 - Seemed to be sitting a bit deeper and letting Guthrie go forward more. Hopefully fit for City. Jonas 8 - Yet again another inspired defensive performance. Best 6 - Decent shift but not much in the way of chances. Ba 6.5 - Same as Best but offered a little more in terms of linking attack and defence and hold up play. Gosling 7 - Surprisingly good performance, competitive in midfield and was key to us not conceding an equaliser. Sammy 6 - A bit erratic, but full of running which certainly helped us in the closing stages. Ben Arfa 6.5 - Looked a lot better in terms of keeping hold of possession, thought he was gonna go all the way when he went on that weaving run towards the end. Not our fault they're battling with Wigan and co for safety. Considering our whole midfield was virtually replaced for this game I think it's a bit of a cheek 1878 having a go at the performance. If Cabaye and Marveaux had stayed on the pitch we'd have controlled the second half much better and probably won by more.

afar
Thought we were poor today but without Tiote and losing cabaye after 30mins they did really well to hang on and really restrict Everton to next to no chances in that second half. I thought the sub of hba for best was crucial he came on and retained possession when we needed it. We need to be starting hba now.
Guest michaelfoster
Krul 7 - Not much to do. Didn't command his box especially well and continue to pull his kicks Simpson 6.5 - Poor on the goal, generally solid though Colo 7.5 - Solid as, largely kept them to shooting from range. Distributed the ball well. Taylor 7 - Good, good Roberto Carlos 7 - Great going forward, but doubled the work of an already under-performing Jonas. Marveaux 7 - Thought he was really good until he got injured. Don't think we tactically used him as well as we could have. Like to see him on the left. Guthrie 7 - Worked really hard, with some good touches. Cabaye 8 - Excellent until his injury kicked in. We were looking really slick first 20 minutes - largely thanks to Mr Yohan. Get well soon! Jonas 6 - Improved second half but not his day. Still one of our two top performers this season by quite some way. Rest up Spidey Best 8 - I was really impressed with him today. Didn't get his goal, but help up the ball, showed really good predatory instincts and battled well. Worked for the team. Ba 6 - Thought he was poor today if I'm honest. Perhaps understandably selfish, he was slow to release the ball and lost possession a lot when there were options on. Sammy 7.5 - Everton couldn't be arsed with him. Perfect sub. Sloppy in possession once or twice though. Concentrate Sammy! Gosling 6.5 - Grafted, but didn't show much quality on the ball. Ben Arfa 7.5 - Very, very encouraging. Blending his undoubted skill with some discipline and intelligence. Can't be far away from the first-team on this form. As a general thing, I think the after-effects of the Stoke game were really evident today. We look knackered, lost our rhythm and were really slow in releasing our final ball. Great first 11 games. 7.5 very generous for Ben Arfa, he showed a few nice touches but did nothing out of the ordinary, 6.5 max imo

themanupstairs
That was a poor poor effort from Everton today. Wigan looked like Barca in comparison. I'd be slightly worried if I were a fan. Another big effort from the team today after the exertions at Stoke. What a wonderful feeling to get yet another 3 pts, and stick it up to all the haters and doubters. IMO stand-out performers today were Guthrie, Ryan Taylor, Coloccini and Simpson. Jonas also is one dogged customer. He and Coloccini deserve all the plaudits for sticking with the club through thick and thin, and reaping the rewards now. How I would dearly love to finish above Liverpool to stick 2 fingers up at Enrique

It's that fucking Garth Crooks, he just doesn't want to admit that we're doing well, every game is a tough game in the Premier League so give us a little credit for god sake, im starting to hate him more than Lawro.
