Thought he was alright. Resisted the urge to give a ridiculously soft penalty. Despite chief cunt Cucarella screaming in his face every 5 seconds.

Completely failed to give us ours though, despite it being a blatant pen?

Is it just the hair or is he actually that much of a gobshite? The hair blinds me so I can't tell.

Feel like it needs to be mentioned because it feels so rare, but that wasn't a terrible performance from the officials.

Could have had a pen, but I don't think it was scandalous, just subjective.

That’s on VAR, IMO. Not the onfield ref.

Wouldn’t have been overturned had he gave it in the first place.

Nar, if he'd given it onfield, they wouldn't have overturned it, it wasn't clear and obvious.

I’d need to see it again to see what his view was like. But I feel like those ones at corners happen all the time now and rarely see the ref giving them.

I thought it should have been given. If more fouls were given both ways. Then corners wouldn’t he such a disgrace every game.

You can literally just initiate contact in nothing areas and then fall over and win a foul. But a shirt pull and a bit of a Rugby tackle when not looking at the ball in the box and it’s ok

See my other post. How often are refs giving those on field? Very rarely.

I'd like to think he was so embarrassed at being put in that position by Chelsea that he deviated from his orders and refereed the game fairly as a fuck you.

He is a snide cunt. Always yapping at the ref and the opposition. Loves a dive and a naughty challenge. Decent player, which makes him even more unlikeable.

The hair doesn’t help, no

Not seen it back but no idea how they got away with the penalty in the first half, other than it being Chelsea and Stamford Bridge.

Couldn’t quite work out where 8 minutes were magicked up from either.

At least he gave a couple of early yellows to Chelsea which reduced their ability to tactically foul. One positive.

Aye, I’ll give him some credit for booking Caicedo early on instead of letting him get 8 or 9 fouls in before his booking like the others do

We reckon the Chelsea players surrounding him for their huddle was deliberate?

Need to whisper this but thought VAR worked fairly well today. Yes the penalty decision looks wrong but in general the decisions were made quickly and they didn't turn anything uncontroversial into a 'thing'. Low bar and all that but still...

What's it come too, they've lost all control around set pieces and now this ?

Maybe after a season of ridiculously biased or totally incompetent refereeing against us it was just the bold and final  "Fuck you Newcastle" statement from the PGMOL.

One of the better refs we've had this season but given the noncey huddle around him I'd have been booking them left, right and centre if I was in his position

Thought the pen would have been soft but if he had given it on the pitch don’t think VAR would have got involved in overturning it. I think you’d give a pen most corners if you give that mind.

Got the other pen calls for us and them spot on I think.

He wasn't perfect, but I'd take a referee performance like that every day of the week and twice on a Sunday considering some of the absolute clown shows we've been served up this season

Thought Tierney's worst call was the yellow for Hall for "time wasting" when Palmer was stood about five yards in front of him, why should he take the FK if the thick fucker hasn't moved back to where he should be?

Respect for Tierney for calling out pre match that it was dumb

Prem need to issue something allowing refs to stop it. It’s only not a rule because it’s just assumed you wouldn’t do something that dumb.

At least Arsenals unpopular tactics actually win games

So the referees review panel have decided that Ramsay's 2nd yellow against Man U should not have been given. And that Leeds should have had a pen against Sunderland. Not sure that follows the Mackem narrative that we get all the decisions. Spawny bastards.
