He was talking about professional football in general, comparing it to the football he played when he was young. EDIT : Also, the title of the Mirror isn't exactly what he said in that interview...In fact, when asked if he would like to follow Cantona's example in England, he first answered "I don't want to slap my country and say that people didn't understand me" (Cantona used to talk like that when he left France. I assume the 'possession won in defence' stat is the one you're pinpointing. With the 4-4-2 that we usually play, the wide men are expected to help the full backs. It hints at what lots of us have speculated on - that either Hatem needs to adjust (and I don't think he's that bad at defending), or he needs to play further forward (didn't seem to work too well) or we change to a 4-3-3. However, in the majority of games we should be focused on attacking the other team, and you only need a pair of eyes to see he's our most creative midfielder.
