Dokko
What fucks me off is this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23455637 However, after a week of talks, both sides are satisfied and Cisse is now available to play for Newcastle again. Absolutely no acceptable reason I can think of as to why this has taken so long to happen. He should have been in Portugal with the rest of the squad at the very least. We're so fucking amateur it's unreal. You don't know what the PFA and other parties advised the player or the club on this. The correct legal measure could be to do it like this, the correct footballing way obviously differs if so.
Cajun
As a club we always react rather than being proactive. It should be under the badge tbh.
Interpolic
"Like a new signing" is coughed up so often it makes me cringe, was looking on twitter earlier when the news broke and the amount of people saying it...fucking hell. Tbh people can kick off about this all they like but our track record for leaving ourselves short at the expense of a few quid is there for all to see. Every chance it could have happened again, so it is effectively like a new signing. Is it fuck. We always needed a replacement for Shola and probably another one for depth, someone who isn't a first team player but more advanced than Campbell in the pecking order. Cisse leaving would have added another requirement on top of that, but he isn't so we haven't changed at all. Ah, you must be sure that we would have signed 2 strikers if Cisse left then. Soz like, I'm just not such a pure mug. Nah I didn't have faith that would happen, it's what we need imo though. So it's potentially like a new signing then, given that we might well not have replaced him. Cheers for participating.

If he wore training gear with the logo on then that could have effected his legal stance. As I said, know one knows but the PFA stepped in and did advise the player, the player didnt go to Portugal. Of course we are not allowed to put 2+2 together round here so pointless even trying to work out why they delay happened. And yes I do think they said something along those lines, it's a groundbreaking case with no similarities so I reckon a lot of time was spent legally working through things on both sides, any action including statements could also be held accountable so neither have said anything. You may be right, but even if so I still don't believe for a second that it couldn't have been resolved in a more speedy, discreet and professional manner if we wanted to do so. For the good of the club, NUFC should have been striving to resolve it and I just don't think they have. Can't prove it obviously, but it fits with almost everything else they've done. Presumably it didn't help that the existing MD resigned after we effectively replaced him with an out of touch clown who prompty pissed off on holiday. We're just rank amateur at board level and it's embarrassing.

We're just rank amateur at board level and it's embarrassing. Can't argue with that, just to add I think the FA and PFA etc were worried how big this could become. Bosman or Webster ruling big, it could quite easily have gone down that route. For that reason I think it won't be the last we hear of this, at some point this will lead on to a clarification of the issues raised, if not then as a contract what Cisse signed and any footballer has signed means Cisse legally never stood a chance in the first place, and if you don't believe in the pics etc...then maybe Cisse backed down when legally he had no grounds to effectively go on strike, it took a few weeks for everyone to go over everything to come to that decision. The club and Cisse probably won't say anything more on this, and they shouldn't, but it would be interesting to hear at least from the PFA as to where they stand on this and their opinion on it all. Gordon Taylor is a goby fecker, give him the floor and he'll spill.
hoppaz
Maybe the threat of no pay took a while to sink in. In any religion a contract is still a contract.

It's an interesting point. I don't recall hearing of similar circumstances before, but I guess if he had concerns about religious matters preventing him from playing football then he should have requested them in his contract when signing up. Problem here is that you don't always know what those circumstances may be until they actually happen.

Sifu
This is positive news, let's hope they (the club and Cisse) can put this properly behind them now. We need to fucking crack on with (what has been so far) an indifferent pre-season.
Kanj
Wonder what it took to resolve it. Would be class if Wonga did something like donate to Cisse's charity - but then I wonder if he'd be pissed that they used their profits from the loans he wasn't a fan of to donate to his charity.... So nevermind.

madras
tbf mick the way our PFA works, all they'll have said is give him more money. I think Cisse will have been looking for a way out. The Muslim Council moaned, he's reacted and made a bit of a stand, he's been given a way out and taken it. quite possible. looking from the outside though unless he gets something out of it (ie being let off doing promo stuff, wearing training kit a la kanoute) then it just looks like he's backed down and to those further away it would like like its due to the aspers photo. We're so f***ing amateur it's unreal. Not entirely clued up about what's going on at the club, but aren't we effectively rudderless right now in terms of not having a chairman or managing director? If so, not surprising at all that it's taking us ages to get basic things done. Especially if Llambias' duties have been taken over by Kinnear, who was supposedly on holiday for much of the past month.
