We have 6 tickets in the South Lounge corporate area supplied by the club sponsors a Belgian bank.  Does that mean we are going to be refused entry?

If it's in a corporate area and you's are dressed accordingley and aren't d+d you should be alright.

It's all the usual massive over-reaction from the powers that be. Hopefully we have minimal issues with people being cunts and we can (again) prove the local bill to have been completely in the wrong.

I've been in Bruges this week (having booked a trip before the draw was made) and it's an absolutely stunning place.

nice friendly welcome from Belgium, completely the wrong message to send out to visiting fans.

i know,  they've got peoples backs up straight away.  Surely a better strategy would have been to invite fans to enjoy there city, come and enjoy yourselves but if you don't have a match ticket stay away from the stadium and stay in the market square which we will make into a fan park for the day and erect giant TV screen for supporters to watch the match.

#clunew There was never an official police communication about arrests in Bruges. Don't believe the rumours ! Office of the chief constable.

Hardly a fucking rumour is it, it was signed by the chief of police!

#clunew Official communication about hospitality policy in Bruges will follow in a few days. Office of the chief constable Bruges police.

Looks like there's going to be a bit of back-tracking.  Calling it a 'hospitality' policy is a start after the hostility policy earlier.

Is it safe to say ESPN will be showing all our group games?...

i would guess so seeing that all our games ko at the same time as Liverpools and ITV4 love them.  Although i have a feeling our game in Bruges might be on ITV4 but that is only cos it'll be cheaper for them to show that than travel to Russia.

CLUB Brugge have defended their decision to only offer Newcastle United 1,470 tickets - and disappoint thousands of fans.

The two teams, in action at St James’s Park tonight, play the return game at the 29,472-capacity Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges on November 8.

Thousands of Newcastle supporters are expected to travel to Belgium for the Europa League group game.

But United’s pleas for a bigger allocation have fallen on deaf ears, and the allocation is the minimum five per cent demanded by UEFA.

Birmingham City were eventually given 6,000 tickets for their visit last season.

However, Brugge press officer Pieter Marechal has insisted that wasn’t an option for Newcastle’s visit because of the anticipated demand from home fans.

Local police have appealed to ticketless fans not to travel - but many made non-refundable travel arrangements before the size of the club’s allocation was made known.

And the prospect of large numbers of ticketless supporters travelling to Bruges is a concern for the authorities there.

“The difference between the case of Birmingham and the case of Newcastle is that Newcastle is a much bigger club, and much more well known for our fans,” Marechal told the Gazette.

“So we have many more fans who would like to be able to see that match in our stadium.

“With Birmingham, from the start, we doubted that we would be able to sell our complete stadium capacity, so we made the decision to make a bigger stand available for their fans.

“The problem with our stadium is that we can’t give half of that stand because of security issues. We have to make sure the away fans can’t mingle with the home fans.

“In our main stand, we don’t have the possibility to give half, so we only have the amount we can give me, which also conforms with the regulations of UEFA.

“With Birmingham, we doubted that we would sell all those tickets to our own supporters because of the fact Birmingham are a smaller club, so we sold the entire tribune (stand) to the people of Birmingham when they said they would take all our tickets.

“With Newcastle, we also heard they had an interest in taking a bigger amount of tickets, but we cannot split the tribune in half because of safety issues.

“And for us it was important that fans who wanted to see this game against Newcastle have the opportunity to see the game.

“That’s the reason why we have a different amount of tickets for sale for the away fans with the Birmingham game and the Newcastle game.

“Birmingham was an exception. For all the other games, we didn’t make an exception, and for this one we haven’t made an exception as well.”

Should Brugge lose tonight, their chances of qualifying for the Europa League’s knockout stages will be slim, and the game could be played at a half-empty stadium while thousands of Newcastle supporters watch it from bars in the city.

However, Marechal insists “security issues” prevent more tickets being made available to visiting fans at this late stage.

“We understand that, but even then it’s a security issue,” added Marechal.

“We cannot guarantee that everything will be able to be organised safely and securely if we sell more tickets for away fans in the other parts of the stadium.”

I agree were a bigger draw, but surely we couldve been given more than the shite amount we were.

Security issues? There'll be more security problems with around 4k Geordies being couped up in the city rather than the ground.

Understandable but it screams of the club taking the easy option, how hard is it to segregate a stand, just hoy some barriers up and have coppers manning it. Problem solved.

That'll be much easier than having 6000 Geordies in various bars in the city.

Keep all the (bad) eggs in one basket imo

Aye I'm looking forward to it. I'll still class it as going to a European away game, with it being my first one.

Hopefully if we progress we get a bit luckier with ticket allocation!

Can't believe we didn't beat Marítimo in this.

Should have won, but we've still got them at home.  That will hopefully be the banker to get us to 10 points and pretty much seal our qualification.  Can't see us beating Brugge or Bordeaux away for some reason.  Think we'll draw one and lose one.
