Didn't think tonight was too bad - we were always likely to lose to Everton with the form they're in and the players we have missing but still managed to create more chances, and with a bit better luck and finishing could have been a draw at least.

Things will improve with players returning and coming in - defence for the next league match is likely to be Debuchy - Taylor - Colo - Santon - best back 4 we've been able to put out in years.

More chances?  Everton created far more than what we did.

From the BBC:

58% possession

Shots: 14-7

Shots on: 11-6

How many of those "shots on" where f***ing soft balls that Howard could just pick up? the Shots/Shots on Taget stats is foolish to use.

What about possession? Or is any stat that doesn't support an established view pointless??

Anyway, not picking on your post in particular mate, whole place is a little overly negative for my liking tonight (understandably enough in fairness) - I'm off to bed!  :blackeye:

You can have 99% possession but if you can't do anything with the ball it doesn't help at all. We created at most three clear-cut chances. I would rather watch Newcastle have 20% possession and do something with it then having tons and getting almost nothing for it.

He deserves to lose his job for what he's overseen this season. It's been fucking abject for months now ultimately he's responsible.

Not sure if he will lose his job but he can't have any complaints whatsoever if he does.

Guest hatem garrincha

Only problem with french managers is don't they all hate hatem?

In fact the one sparing thing for Pardew imo is that Ben Arfa seems to adore him.

No french managers ffs.

We were horrible tonight. Attacking play was completley gone. Marveaux the only constructive player.

Shola is fucking shit but we've known that for 13 years now.

Alarming that Cissé was played on the wing again. He can fuck off big time with his selections.

even though he's shown some inexperience this season, especially defensively, i'd honestly like nigel adkins as a long term appointment. southampton have played some of the best football in the league this season. would be a gamble considering our perilous position, but so too would be sticking with Pardew.

Can't organise a defence though, hasn't convinced at this level

Don't entirely disagree, but we have better individuals defensively than they do. Clyne's the pick and he's fresh from the championship and far better going forward than he is at the back, similar can be applied to Shaw. Fox, Hooiveld, Davis, Fonte, Gazzaniga etc are a level down even from Williamson and Simpson. And while Schneiderlin looks good he's basically their only defensive minded midfielder whereas we have Tiote, Anita, Bigirimana, Jonas and even Cabaye with more solidity.

Anyway probs not the ideal appointment for the current position but he looks very promising.

All these players playing horrifically, it's not a coincidence ffs. Wise up mike, even you can do better than this.

exactly. all these comments about Tiote turning to shit, Cisse turning to shit, Coloccini exposed yet again, Santon invisible, Cabaye anonymous, Krul yet again at fault. all players who have shown brilliant form in the past underperforming to a massive degree.

Sacking him in the January transfer window will be disastrous.

We'll be too busy looking for a new manager to sign any players. Then we'll fail to find a manager and end up with Mark Hughes on January 30th.

We all know what will happen. I've mentioned this before, but it's far more likely that Pardew will have a epiphany and improving as a manager rather than us actually appointing someone useful.
