It seemed to be last season, fwiw I think we'll see 4-3-3 second half. The problem with 4-4-2 is that it's based on us being hard to break down and nicking a goal. If we're not hard to break down it falls on its arse and we find it hard to create. It's not the same as playing for a draw because we've got such good strikers, but it's similar. johnnypd Posted August 25, 2012 Share Posted August 25, 2012 it's not about 4-4-2 , or 4-3-3 , it's about the movement , the combination between players etc , there is some seriously brainless players in that team , simpson for instance ( that's not a news ) and ba and cissé played liked they were retarded , i'm sorry but it's true .. and yet some of those same players can look transformed in a different system. Ba stops trying to be a goal poacher and actually works for the side out wide and deeper when he's told to, even though he doesn't like it. it's like having an extra man in the side. One soft penalty and a moment of genuine quality aside, Chelsea have hardly outclassed us imo. Pardew's in a bit of a tactical dilemma now though - do we have a go at Chelsea and risk getting bummed on the break or keep things tight and hope for a a bit of random inspiration? Might as well bench Ben Arfa if we are going to keep using 4-4-2, it's an utter waste of time. We won't even get close to top 4 with this system. Meltdown. How the f*ck is it meltdown? i have been saying the same ever since we stopped using 4-3-3 it's a clearly superior system from back to front but we don't use it in favour of an out-dated system which is poor offensively, possession wise and defensively.
