Tactically done in that first 20, put up a decent fight for the next 25 or so but it was game over after that. Reminiscent of Wigan having the extra middle man last season, very, very poor. If you're up against a good side, you've got to play with a bit of aggression, but we were far too tentative. Our closing down wasn't convincing. It was like we were going through the motions and not really believing we could get the ball. It would help if we had a striker like Beardsley or Bellamy who could track back and make a nuisance of themselves. The idea that Man U or Chelsea would bid £20m for Tiote looked a real joke today. Ba didn't get involved enough. Cisse struggled but at least he looked like he was bothered. Santon had a good game. He looks a lot more confident now and seemed far more at home on the right. Jonas showed his usual good attitude and got through a lot of work. Despite his experience, Harper often looks like a nervous beginner. This was one of those days. Ref had a bad game sure, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there was no threat from us at all. I hope to god we beat the SMB and kick start our season. But there were dozens of pockets of Man United supporters who seem to reveal themselves after the third goal; some left under escort and others simply refused to leve. Parky Posted October 7, 2012 Share Posted October 7, 2012 Our preperation for this season has to be questioned. Too many players are not firing and the transfer window was a strong negative. If you add to this the revealing lack of consistency of formation and belief in what our best starting set up should be I'd have to say Pard8 has to take a lot of the blame for that. After a top 5 finish and a squad on a high there was a chance this might happen (maybe some of them thought they'd get an insta-move to a top tier side I don't know). It just seems to be a lot of their minds aren't right and there is a difinite lack of composure and focus. A season which we all wished we would kick on a bit or even have that hunger to continue is one or two games away from becoming a struggle with no end in sight. Today for example, our back keeper was awful and our back up centre backs poor. Just got to hope that Krul, Taylor and Colo are all back for the mackems.
