don't get me wrong, i think he would inprove our midfield but if we've got him in the summer for nothing then that 3 mil they want may be better sent now on another forward. can't see us getting both unless they drop their price

We need him this window... Our midfield has been dominated every league this season and many that people care not to admit last season...

Guest expat in the pool

i just think that the money would be better sent on a forward at present

we've just signed a quality cb and fb which will help midfield, anitas playin better and cabaye seems to have come back fresh and hungry and tiote could come back better after a run of games

For me Sissoko is as important as another striker.

We dont have anyone that can surge through the middle or even take the game by the scruff of the neck, which was clearest watching Fellani who was the difference maker when we played Everton. Cabaye was considered a box to box player but I think his preference or at least his instructions have been to sit deeper and create. Sissoko could do either role and is an accomplished box to box player. We could play him deep and push Cabaye forward or vice versa. He is also as strong as an ox so would give us some great physical presence behind the strikers.

I think we are still very much in the market for another striker..but only on the proviso that our perceived price is accepted. Otherwise we will limp on to the summer.

Not fully convinced we will get Sissoko yet, but fingers crossed, signs look good.

Sissoko would help us win a lot of aerial challenges/second balls. The way Pardew plays seems to result in our midfielders having to challenge for these more than they should, it was very noticeable at Norwich how many times Anita/Cabaye/Marveaux were beaten and we lost possession through it.

Agreed. Sissoko would make a massive difference to us, especially if we aren't looking at bringing in a true replacement for Ba during this window.

As much fun as it is having all these signings come in at once, the only one I think will make an immediate difference is Mapou. Granted, Gouffran is an upgrade on Ameobi, but personally i'm not expecting too much. Haïdara (when he signs) is most likely back up for Santon so I can't see him being thrown in to the first team straight away.

That's not to say i'm not as pleased as most on here, far from it. I just that we need that little bit extra bit of raw quality to reinforce our chances of staying up.

Sissoko is a superb player. I'd take him immediately, regardless of whether we need him or not.

Never seen him, but these kinds of statements makes me want him so bad, just due to the freqency of them.

Don't like how he is treating his childhood club though..

If/when he comes I think Jonas still have a part to play in our squad. Same with Tiote.

They should all be squad players, we play Tiote until he gets booked then bring Sissoko on for the final 85 minutes

Quotes from him in French press confirming the reasons why he's signing for us, and a few saying we might pay the €3m to get the deal done now.

Party time if true.

I'm not that worried about QPR, didn't he already say that he prefers to sign for us? Nothing guaranteed obviously, but it seems we've stolen a march on everyone with this.

Remy preferred us too, at first.

Just hope we get this wrapped up asap because they will throw silly money at him and the relegation clause. Can't see many players turning down £80,000+ a week and being likely to be free in the summer for a few months playing there.

NEWCASTLE United believe they have secured the signing of Moussa Sissoko on a pre-contract agreement – but still want to broker a deal for the Toulouse midfielder to play the second half of the season on Tyneside.

Sissoko, who was suspended by Toulouse for expressing his desire to move this month, is one of two deals Newcastle want to tie up before next Thursday’s deadline.

They are also set to table a second bid for Florian Thauvin of Bastia, the France under-21 striker they envisage as playing back-up to Papiss Cissé.

With Fabricio Coloccini now set to stay at Newcastle, that would conclude their business for the month – although they are also scouring the market for left-sided players.

Newcastle are confident they have done enough to sign Sissoko, who is a highly-rated midfielder.

He has verbally agreed to join but paperwork has not been completed as United look to negotiate a January exit amid acrimonious scenes in France.

Toulouse want £3million for the player, Newcastle currently rate him closer to £1.5million.

His current club reacted furiously to his decision to leave.

Toulouse coach Alain Casanova said Sissoko’s decision to leave had prompted the club’s decision to suspend him – and said he fully supported that decision.

He said: “The whole club shows full solidarity with the chairman’s decision.

“His absence is a big loss for the team , but that decision is correct.”

Would think that it makes more sense he has signed on the pre-contract, just a matter of whether we can negotiate a January transfer which means him signing on a new immediate transfer paper and tearing the old one up.
